Giants | Angel Pagan might return Wednesday

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 18:09:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knee) was out of the lineup for a second straight game Tuesday, Aug. 4, but manager Bruce Bochy said Pagan might start the series finale against the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) might return Wednesday, but FantasyScore players would be wise to avoid him until he can officially get a game under his belt and prove his health without any setbacks. Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) made the start for Pagan Tuesday.

Giants | Angel Pagan still sidelined

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 14:12:17 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knees) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and hitting second against Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has good splits against right-handers this season (.306-3-18 in 183 at-bats). However, despite a lack of wins to back him, Miller has been one of the better pitchers in baseball this year with a 2.44 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 111 strikeouts in 133 innings. Blanco's price is very attractive, but selecting him for your daily lineups could backfire tonight.

Giants | Angel Pagan scratched

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 14:44:28 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knees) was scratched from the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 3, because of sore knees. OF Gregor Blanco will take his place in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update to see the severity of Pagan's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) injuries. Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .296 with 20 RBI this season and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Giants | No Angel Pagan Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:04:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and hitting second against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a fine value target for FantasyScore users today. He's hitting .316 (55-for-174) with all three of his home runs and 17 of his 19 RBI against right-handers in 2015.

Giants | Angel Pagan remains at leadoff

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:44:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan remains atop the batting order Monday, July 27, against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) continues to lead off despite the return of Nori Aoki from the 15-day disabled list. Pagan's FantasyScore value is obviously much higher at leadoff than in the eighth spot of the batting order.

Giants | Gregor Blanco not in Saturday lineup

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 15:30:07 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is not in the lineup Saturday, July 11, against the Philadelphia Phillies. OF Angel Pagan is hitting leadoff.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is likely out due to his slump in the past week. He does hit .327 against right-handers but with a .188 mark in the past week that's a prime reason to put him aside in FantasyScore.

Giants | Angel Pagan scores three times

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 05:11:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan went 3-for-6 with three runs and two RBI during the Gaints' 15-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is mired in his worst season since becoming a full-time player in 2009. Injuries have hindered his fantasy stock in the past, but with just 11 doubles, three triples and no home runs, his pop is the biggest drawback. Expect a slight bounce back in the second half, and Pagan is a buy-low candidate in deep mixed leagues.

Giants | Angel Pagan leading off vs. Phils

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 16:35:18 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is hitting leadoff against Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has good results against lefties this year (.360 in 86 at-bats) but has zero home runs and only six RBI. He also has good history against Hamels (12-for-40 with a home run and five RBI). Still, Pagan could struggle to return value on FantasyScore, even at an affordable price.

Giants | Angel Pagan not playing

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 10:50:12 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 8. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in left field and hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom.

Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is a low-end outfield option for daily gamers. He's hitting only .205 (39-for-190) with six home runs and 21 RBI this year. He has a very poor matchup against the dominant deGrom.

Giants | Gregor Blanco leading off

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:45:06 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is hitting leadoff against New York Mets left-handed SP Jon Niese Monday, July 6. As a result, OF Angel Pagan was dropped to fifth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) would typically be a great value play while hitting leadoff, but he's facing a left-hander tonight, which makes him a big risk. He's slashing .240/.296/.320 with no home runs and just two RBI against southpaws this year. Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is even riskier further down the lineup despite a .378/.416/.402 line against lefties in 2015.
