Giants | Angel Pagan out of lineup

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:58:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is out of the lineup Saturday, April 23, with OF Gregor Blanco hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is 2-for-3 with a homer off Jose Fernandez. It's an extremely small sample size, but if you're looking for a basement outfielder to load up elsewhere in DFS, he's worth a shot.

Giants | Buster Posey sitting out

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 10:36:49 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is out of the lineup Thursday, April 21, with C Trevor Brown hitting eighth. OF Angel Pagan also moved up to sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Brown is 6-for-17 (.353) with three homers and seven RBI this season. He's a great flyer against Shelby Miller today. Pagan is hitting .351 this season and is also worth a low-end look in DFS.

Giants | Angel Pagan collects three hits

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 00:43:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan had three hits Monday, April 18, in a 9-7 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan is off to a strong start, which has his batting average nearly 100 points higher than the .256 he posted a year ago. You might want to beware this, because Pagan will likely come down to earth or get hurt. Ride him while you can on your fantasy roster.

Giants | Denard Span, Brandon Crawford not playing

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 15:15:47 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span and SS Brandon Crawford (hip) are both out of the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, April 15. OF Angel Pagan moves up to the leadoff spot. OF Gregor Blanco draws the start in center field and is hitting ninth, while 2B Kelby Tomlinson is starting at shortstop and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford's injury isn't believed to be serious, and he might've been out tonight anyway while going against Kershaw. Put him back in your starting lineups when he returns. Blanco and Tomlinson should be avoided in daily games. Pagan is hitting .267 (16-for-60) with five doubles in his career against Kershaw and is a contrarian daily pick tonight.

Giants | Brandon Crawford update

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:52:24 -0800

Correcting a previous report, San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (shoulder) has some shoulder soreness that also caused him to miss time last spring. This injury is more mild, but the Giants are being cautious with him and won't start him at shortstop for about a week. OFs Denard Span and Angel Pagan, who are coming off injuries, will also be eased into spring games.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford took a big step forward last year, and his ability to hit for a decent average with plus power is a big development at a position that lacks many strong options. Crawford is one of the more consistent all-around players at his position.

Giants | Angel Pagan focused on speed

Tue, 23 Feb 2016 10:04:06 -0800

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is comfortable dropping in the batting order and shifting to left field this year. He changed trainers in the offseason and his conditioning routine. Pagan said his legs had been too strong and muscular before, which made him prone to injury. He sacrificed bulk in his legs this year for flexibility, so he can become more of a speed guy. "I don't get paid to hit home runs," Pagan said. "I get paid to score runs and play the field."

Fantasy Tip: Injuries and age are a huge concern. Pagan is a former shell of himself and lacks power and speed. But in NL-only leagues you could do worse when searching for some stolen bases.

Giants | Denard Span to serve as leadoff hitter

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 17:09:44 -0800

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span is expected to serve as the club's leadoff hitter and regular center fielder, with OF Angel Pagan moving over to left field on a full-time basis.

Fantasy Tip: As a result of signing Span, the Giants are no longer expected to be in the running for other free-agent outfielders such as Yoenis Cespedes (Mets) and Justin Upton (Padres). Span should be viewed as a late-round flier for deep mixed fantasy leagues because of his ability to score runs, steal bases and hit for a high average. Pagan has had difficulty remaining healthy in recent seasons and has seen a decline in his speed and power numbers, so he shouldn't be targeted outside of NL-only and deep universal leagues.

Giants | Angel Pagan the leadoff man

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 11:21:05 -0800

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan will enter the 2016 season as the starting center fielder and leadoff hitter, according to manager Bruce Bochy.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan had a down year in 2015, hitting .262 with three home runs and just 12 stolen bases for the Gigantes. Various injuries have slowed him down of late and limited his speed intrigue. With limited power to speak of, he doesn't really give you an advantage in any one category anymore, relegating his worth to depth in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Giants | Angel Pagan scheduled for knee surgery

Mon, 05 Oct 2015 14:33:54 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (knee) will undergo knee surgery Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan had his worst statistical season since becoming a full-time player in 2015, and what is most concerning for his fantasy stock is he has only stolen 28 bases over the past two seasons. Entering his age-33 season in 2016, Pagan isn't worth targeting outside of cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.
