Giants | Angel Pagan resting Tuesday

Tue, 26 May 2015 15:54:21 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 26. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza. Also, OF Hunter Pence moves up to the third spot in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has his only homer of the year and is hitting .296 (24-for-81) against right-handed hurlers this year, making him a sleeper option for FantasyScore users tonight against Garza, who recently allowed 10 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings to the New York Mets.

Giants | Angel Pagan could lead off against lefties

Wed, 20 May 2015 16:36:59 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is likely to hit leadoff more often against left-handed pitchers, according to manager Bruce Bochy. In those instances, OF Justin Maxwell would fill in in left field for OF Nori Aoki.

Fantasy Tip: Such a move would essentially make Aoki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) a platoon player in left field and kill much of his value in traditional leagues. Pagan ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has fared well against southpaws this year, but a move to leadoff some of the time won't drastically affect his outlook at FantasyScore.

Giants | Angel Pagan leading off Wednesday

Wed, 20 May 2015 15:55:10 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is hitting leadoff against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brett Anderson Wednesday, May 20, with OF Nori Aoki out of the lineup against a lefty.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is having a fine season (.329-0-10 with four stolen bases), and he's also hitting .375 (15-for-40) with three RBI against lefties in 2015. Anderson has also struggled against lefty hitters this year, allowing a slash line of .340/.404/.383. Pagan, although he doesn't pose much of a threat to go deep, could fill up the stat sheet as a contrarian play Wednesday night.

Giants | Angel Pagan returns to action

Tue, 19 May 2015 16:51:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (back) is back in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Carlos Frias Tuesday, May 19. Pagan is starting in center field and hitting third in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has no home runs on the year, but he's hitting .324 (46-for-142) with a .347 on-base percentage. He's been productive for FantasyScore players, but his ceiling is somewhat limited due to the lack of power.

Giants | Angel Pagan out Sunday

Sun, 17 May 2015 07:45:39 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is out of the lineup Sunday, May 17, against the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants will start OFs Nori Aoki, Hunter Pence and Gregor Blanco against Reds RHP Anthony DeSclafani.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is 7-for-his-last-22 plate appearances, but he has performed better against lefties this season. Pagan possesses more pop against right-handed pitchers, but his batting average is about 80 points than it is against lefties.

Giants | Angel Pagan returns vs. SD

Wed, 06 May 2015 10:46:09 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (finger) is back in the starting lineup and facing San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy Wednesday, May 6. Pagan is hitting third in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is off to a great start this year (.350-0-8) with three stolen bases for the Gigantes. However, he is just 6-for-30 (.200) with one RBI in his career against Kennedy. There isn't a ton of upside for FantasyScore users this afternoon.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan is hitting .329 on the season and is 7-for-16 (.438) against left-handers. At just $2,700 (5.4% of your cap), he's an excellent low-end outfield flyer.

Giants | Angel Pagan hitting third Thursday night

Thu, 02 Apr 2015 16:57:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan will hit third Thursday, April 2.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) isn't the prototypical three-hole hitter, but manager Bruce Bochy is saddled with working around Hunter Pence's absence early in the year. Pagan will have far more RBI potential hitting third than he would hitting leadoff. A projected showdown with Josh Collmenter at Chase Field makes him a nice bargain pick in FantasyScore games.

Giants | Angel Pagan to the three-hole?

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 18:46:35 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan might be used in the third spot of the batting order for manager Bruce Bochy. It appears OF Norichika Aoki is working his way into the leadoff spot, and 2B Joe Panik will be the two-hole hitter with Pagan sliding down the order. "Hopefully this works. I think it could work with the way Aoki grinds at-bats and finds ways to get on base, and I like Angel in the three-hole. But we'll see how it goes in the next nine to 10 days," Bochy said Wednesday, March 25.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan would see plenty more RBI opportunities out of the three-hole, and that would give him a little more added fantasy appeal in standard leagues. He would also take on extra value for FantasyScore owners when the matchup is favorable.
