Sun, 24 Apr 2016 11:02:46 -0700

Royals | Salvador Perez sitting Saturday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 12:18:14 -0700

Kansas City Royal C Salvador Perez will receive the day off Saturday, April 16, against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray. C Drew Butera will start in his place and bat ninth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Don't expect much from Butera, but he's worth a look as a cheap starter and would enable more salary to be spent at other positions in daily formats.

Royals | No Salvador Perez vs. Tigers

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 07:44:59 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Sept. 20. C Drew Butera is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Alfredo Simon Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Perez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. He has 10 runs, 11 RBI and a .277/.324/.415 slash line over 17 games in September and remains a low-end catcher in 12-team leagues. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a .506 OPS this season, and he checks out as a low-end FantasyScore play Sunday.

Royals | Salvador Perez out against Rays

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 07:55:06 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. C Drew Butera is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Nathan Karns Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Perez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. The backstop is having a nice month with three home runs, 13 RBI and a .274 batting average, and seasonal owners should be rewarded with a strong finish to the season. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a .537 OPS this season, so FantasyScore players shouldn't count on him Sunday.

Royals | Salvador Perez remains out

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 13:47:53 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) was expected to miss only a few games to rest the wrist injury, so it isn't out of the question for him to return Friday, Aug. 14. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief by FantasyScore players.

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 13:54:19 -0700

Kansas City Royals C Salvador Perez (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 12. C Drew Butera is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Daniel Norris Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Perez ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday, but take note of his recent 9-for-25 run with a round tripper and five RBI. Perez is worth targeting at FantasyScore in favorable matchups. Check back for updates on his wrist injury. Butera ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) owns a career .183/.236/.266 slash line and should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief.
