Sat, 18 Jun 2011 11:56:56 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly plans to meet with SP Chad Billingsley and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt to discuss Billingsley's recent struggles. He has posted an 11.19 ERA over his last three starts. "There's too many balls in the middle of the plate," Mattingly said. "The other day, he was just firing - and that's what I was upset about. Bills is one of those guys who throws harder and harder when he's struggling instead of throwing quality pitches. But there's days when you don't have that good stuff, so you've got to make an adjustment and pitch a little differently. I mean, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."

Tue, 30 May 2006 21:32:39 -0700 The Orange County Register's Bill Plunkett reports Los Angeles Dodgers SP Brad Penny threw a fit when Dodgers manager Grady Little removed him from the team's game Monday, May 29, with one out in the fifth inning. Penny allowed an 8-1 lead to shrink considerably after giving up six straight hits in the inning. "I just don't appreciate, with a three-run lead, not getting the chance to get that inning out of the way," said Penny, who gestured and yelled while heading back to the dugout, slammed a bat near the dugout steps, and then continued to shout towards the direction of the pitcher's mound, where Little was giving the ball to the new pitcher. Little said the team would address Penny's behavior after being pulled. "I don't mind him being ticked off when he comes out of a game," said Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt. "But the tirade after it, that's a different issue."
