Tue, 08 May 2012 14:16:14 -0700 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson said he's willing to move to free safety this year if the team needs him there. "I think that it comes down to what the other guys are going to be able to do as far as the cornerback position is concerned," Woodson said. "If one of those guys can take over that role and make the plays that need to be made at corner ... with Nick Collins leaving, (and if) they need me to play safety, I'm not opposed to that."
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:08:16 -0700 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson said that he was happy the team upended its draft philosophy and loaded up on defensive players following the unit's poor play last season. "There's always talk about Green Bay just drafting the best available player," Woodson said. "But I think this year that tells you that that's not the case. We drafted what we needed. And we needed a whole of lot of help on defense. Anybody who watched our season last year understands that."
Fri, 27 Apr 2012 21:31:44 -0700 Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers and cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt both indicated that CB Charles Woodson has moved around a lot in their defense over the past three season, and they didn't deny Woodson could see more time at safety in 2012 than he has in the past. "We haven't even had those discussions. You want to get through the draft and see where you are and all those things," Capers said of moving Woodson. "Charles has played so many different places for us - corner, nickel, dime, safety. Wherever we've wanted Charles to play, he's played."
Wed, 01 Feb 2012 17:59:26 -0800 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson is due to receive a $4 million roster bonus in March. General manager Ted Thompson could make a hard decision to not pay Woodson the bonus, making the cornerback a free agent and clearing $11.5 million in cap room in the process. If he sticks with Woodson, he can still restructure the $4 million bonus so it spreads out over the final three years of his deal, saving about $2.6 million in cap space.
Wed, 18 Jan 2012 07:24:04 -0800 The Green Bay Packers may consider asking CB Charles Woodson to move to safety in 2012, if FS Nick Collins (neck) is unable to return from a neck injury. However, that is not a given because Capers thinks moving Woodson out of a corner position would allow the opposition to take advantage of matchups against CB Sam Shields, the cornerback who would replace Woodson outside. "Then you have to decide who you put in outside," Capers said of replacing Woodson at corner. "One thing about Charles out there at corner, people if they're going to try to run the ball out there, they're always going to try to crack (on the linebacker) and make that corner try to tackle. It doesn't take long for people to say, 'OK, who are we going to make tackle?' We don't worry about Charles."
Mon, 16 Jan 2012 08:50:17 -0800 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson said the defense's performance in the Divisional Round playoff loss to the New York Giants was a microcosm of the unit's season. "Anything you've seen through the regular season happened to us today - missed tackles, (missed) assignments, not getting to the QB. We let them throw for a bunch of yards. Everything that happened during the season happened today."

Tue, 08 Nov 2011 05:31:04 -0800 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson said the coaching staff needs to use LB Clay Matthews more creatively. "We have to find ways to get Clay to the quarterback whatever that may be," Woodson said. "Draw some things up for him and just let him do his thing. We can't continue to allow him to be stuck on the side and double-teamed every time he gets upfield. So I think for us, finding ways to get him to be the 'Claymaker,' which he is. We've got to find some ways to get him to the quarterback." On pace for just six sacks this season, Matthews is one part of a struggling Packers pass rush.

Tue, 22 Feb 2011 07:14:38 -0800 Green Bay Packers CB Charles Woodson (collarbone) said his fractured collarbone should take six to eight weeks to heal, according to Jason Wilde, of ESPNMilwaukee.com. Woodson added that surgery is not an option at this point. "We're just going to let it heal on its own. We figured that it may cause more damage if I were to put a plate in it right now, complications from a surgery, or maybe it not healing right with the plate on it so it's better to let it heal on its own," Woodson said. "If we had to do something later on we could, but we're not even going to chance it at this point … I think it will be like any other (bone) break that I've had. It's usually a six to eight week type of deal before it's totally healed so I guess I'm looking at the same timeline with this injury."
