Unrestricted free-agent OT Charles Spencer (Jaguars) said he is looking to return to the NFL and that his leg is 100 percent healed, reports Richard Justice, of the Houston Chronicle. Spencer currently weighs 317 pounds, which is the lightest he has been since he was in college.

Despite the team signing free-agent tackle Jordan Black (Chiefs) and re-signing left tackle Ephraim Salaam, they may target another tackle because OT Charles Spencer (leg) is only 50-50 to come back next year.

Megan Manfull, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans OT Charles Spencer's (knee) career could be in jeopardy after sustaining a fractured tibia during the season. Spencer has a metal plate and roughly eight screws in his knee, and while the injury has healed the damaged cartilage around his knee as a result of the injury is of concern to the team. Doctors feel arthritis could develop on the joint surface, leaving Spencer with an arthritic knee.

The Sports Network reports Houston Texans OL Charles Spencer (leg) will miss the remainder of the 2006 season with a broken left leg. He had surgery Monday, Sept. 18, to repair the fracture. "He has a fracture of the tibia, a severe fracture," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "The surgery went well. I don't think we'll probably know a whole lot about his recovery for another couple months. It's a very severe injury and you just hope things work out well."

He was late off the ball in a foreign stadium, not in his comfort zone. He struggled with being late off the ball. He had a few busts, but when you're asking a rookie tackle to do that, I think you're going to have some growing pains, and we understand that. We love his effort; we love his upside. He's headed in the direction we, but to sit here tell you who are starter is today, I can't do that." Spencer is competing for the starting left tackle job.

He stood on his 40-yard dash time and bench press numbers from the NFL Combine. He had a 27 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-3 long jump, while running the short shuttle in 4.64 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.74 seconds.
