New York Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka could move back to the defensive line, according to general manager Jerry Reese. "Well I see him as still kind of a joker type player for us,'' Reese said. "But from my view I think he will probably play more on the defensive line more than he played at linebacker in the past; just from my view. But that is Coach Coughlin's call."

New York Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka has agreed to restructure his contract which will save the team $1 million in salary cap space for 2013. His 2013 salary cap figure has gone from $5.125 million to $4.125 million. His salary cap figures for 2014 and 2105 will go up slightly because of the restructuring.

New York Giants DL Mathias Kiwanuka played exclusively as a defensive lineman in Week 12, both at tackle and end, as opposed to a lineman-linebacker role, and recorded six tackles, two sacks and three quarterback hits. "I definitely love being down there," Kiwanuka said. "That's what I do naturally. As a football player, that's what I'm most used to."

New York Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka said the replacement officials failed to call many holding penalties in Week 1. Kiwanuka claims he was held by the Dallas Cowboys' offensive line numerous times. "I haven't been held this much since I was a baby," Kiwanuka said after the game. "You've got to understand that these refs have been put in a tough situation, without having weeks, months, years to prepare like the other refs had. It's definitely tough to come in and pick up the nuances of the NFL. I tip my hats to them, but you notice when the real refs aren't out there."
