The most likely candidates are LB David Harris (team-high $13 million cap charge), WR Santonio Holmes ($12.5 million), CB Antonio Cromartie ($10.8 million), OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson ($10.7 million) and DT Sione Pouha ($6.2 million). QB Mark Sanchez ($12.9 million) could also be a candidate; however, it doesn't make sense to push his money into future years, considering his tenuous position on the team.

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie is due to make more money over the next two seasons than CB Darrelle Revis. Cromartie is scheduled to make $16.5 million to just $13.5 million for Revis, which is why the star cornerback is unhappy with his contract situation. There are also four other players - OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, LB David Harris, WR Santonio Holmes and QB Mark Sanchez - who are also scheduled to make more.

The New York Jets have restructured the contract of OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The team converted $9 million of Ferguson's $9.985 million base salary in 2012 to a signing bonus to give the team more cap space, according to a source. The cap value of the converted signing bonus will be spread over the remaining six years of Ferguson's contract. As a result, the Jets will get an additional $7.5 million of cap relief this season.

Mangini said, "I like both of those guys, they're showing some more personality. We have the rookies entertain us a little bit here and there. I think Nick is a little bit ahead of Brick in that area, he's a little bit funnier, but Brick is showing that side. I just like the way that both of them are approaching this with their maturity and the level headedness that they have. They have a long way to go and they have a lot of things to see.
