New York Jets general manager John Idzik will approach a few players about restructuring their contracts. The most likely candidates are LB David Harris (team-high $13 million cap charge), WR Santonio Holmes ($12.5 million), CB Antonio Cromartie ($10.8 million), OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson ($10.7 million) and DT Sione Pouha ($6.2 million). QB Mark Sanchez ($12.9 million) could also be a candidate; however, it doesn't make sense to push his money into future years, considering his tenuous position on the team.

New York Jets OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson said the team has greatness written all over themselves. "We have an opportunity now to do something spectacular," Ferguson said. "We still have Shonn Greene, he's an excellent back. We have a great offensive line. We're going to do some nice things this year. The focus should be on what's gonna happen this year, and what's in our power to do. We have greatness written all over us. It's just a matter of time."

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie is due to make more money over the next two seasons than CB Darrelle Revis. Cromartie is scheduled to make $16.5 million to just $13.5 million for Revis, which is why the star cornerback is unhappy with his contract situation. There are also four other players - OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, LB David Harris, WR Santonio Holmes and QB Mark Sanchez - who are also scheduled to make more.

The New York Jets have restructured the contract of OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The team converted $9 million of Ferguson's $9.985 million base salary in 2012 to a signing bonus to give the team more cap space, according to a source. The cap value of the converted signing bonus will be spread over the remaining six years of Ferguson's contract. As a result, the Jets will get an additional $7.5 million of cap relief this season.

Cromartie and Smith were limited in practice Friday, Dec. 30, while the others practiced in full.
