Updating a previous report, Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders LB Napoleon Harris (ribs/illness) is considered "very questionable" for the Week 17 game against the San Diego Chargers. If Harris can't go, LB Eric Johnson would start at strong-side linebacker.

Although he failed to score a touchdown during the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-7 romp over the Oakland Raiders in Week 14, Steelers' WR/KR Antwaan Randle El had a career day against Oakland, reports Teresa Varley of Steelers.com. The former college quarterback finished the game with 225 all-purpose yards, including five punt returns for a total of 132 yards. "Randle El is every bit as good as (Kansas City Chiefs WR/KR) Dante Hall," Raiders LB Eric Johnson, who was on the coverage units that tried to stop him, said. "He's a little stronger, too."

Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Bill Callahan did not say who will replace FS Rod Woodson (knee), but the options are few. Options are rookie S Sideeq Shabazz, former safety and current LB Eric Johnson or rookie CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who played safety for three-plus seasons at the University of California before converting to cornerback early in his senior season.

The Mercury News reports Oakland Raiders DB Eric Johnson has been fined $5,000 for a violation of the NFL's uniform code. Johnson did not have his socks "high enough" for the team's September 15 game.

John Ryan reports for the San Jose Mercury News the Oakland Raiders placed backup defensive back and special-teams ace Eric Johnson, who suffered a broken left fibula Monday, on injured reserve. He underwent surgery to repair the damage. The Raiders then signed DB Brandon Jennings from the practice squad and signed seventh-round pick RB/DB Derek Combs to the practice squad.

The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders backup S Eric Johnson fractured his left leg last night and he will miss at least eight weeks after undergoing surgery. FB Jon Ritchie has a groin strain, LB Elijah Alexander injured his left knee, RB Randy Jordan and CB Charles Woodson sustained turf toes, and DE Tony Bryant has a left hip bruise. ''This is about as injury-riddled as I've seen this team,'' said coach Jon Gruden. Starting S Anthony Dorsett (sprained left knee) will undergo an MRI today. Starting G Steve Wisniewski sprained his left ankle, but he's likely to start on Sunday. Woodson was fitted for a boot and his practice time will be limited this week.

Raiders | Tough Choices Coming

Steve Corkran reports for the Contra Costa Times Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden will face some tough decisions after this week's pre-season game in Mexico City. The Raiders must reduce their roster from 88 players to 65, plus NFL Europe exemptions by next Tuesday afternoon. Keeping three or four QBs is one of the coaches decisions. RBs Eric Metcalf, Zack Crockett and rookie Derek Combs likely battling for one spot. Eric Johnson, Calvin Branch and Raymond Perryman are battling for the final one or two spots in the defensive backfield. There are other tough choices as well with P Shane Lechler and PK Sebastian Janikowski secure in their positions.

Raiders | Some Concerns On

The Sacramento Bee reports Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden expressed some concerns about his defense after last night's pre-season win. "We have some error in our (defensive) play that we have to clean up," Gruden said. He felt the run defense did not play well and the team made too many mistakes, including one critical one on a corner blitz. The Raiders tackling was sloppy as well, especially against the run. Gruden was happy with rookie S Derrick Gibson, rookie DL DeLawrence Grant, who had a sack; and S Eric Johnson, who played aggressively.

The Contra Costa Times reports Oakland Raiders FB Jon Ritchie (ankle) and RB Napoleon Kaufman (knee) both missed practice on Wednesday and were downgraded to doubtful. DT Grady Jackson (right shoulder), CB Darrien Gordon (turf toe) and RB Randy Jordan (turf toe) also missed practice. S Eric Johnson (shoulder) practiced but head coach Jon Gruden stated Johnson is still very sore. Gruden said RB Terry Kirby is likely to be active for the first time.

The Contra Costa Times reports RB Randy Jordan (turf toe), CB Darrien Gordon (turf toe), DT Grady Jackson (bruised shoulder) and S Eric Johnson (bruised shoulder) did not practice Tuesday. CB Eric Allen (general soreness) practiced in a limited capacity. All are expected to be healthy enough to play Saturday. Results from MRI tests taken on Jackson and Johnson were negative.

The Contra Costa Times reports the Oakland Raiders RB Napoleon Kaufman (bruised right quad) will miss significant practice time this week. FB Jon Ritchie (high ankle sprain) is questionable to doubtful right now, RB Randy Jordan (turf toe), DT Grady Jackson (shoulder), DE Tony Bryant (dislocated fingers) and S Eric Johnson (shoulder) were also banged up. Jackson and Johnson underwent MRIs on Monday and the results have not yet been released.
