Vikings | No regrets about deal for Chad Greenway

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said Saturday, Feb. 25, that he has no regrets regarding the contract extension given to LB Chad Greenway last season. "We just didn't play very good overall defensively last year," Spielman said. "But I know Chad - a thousand times you're going to invest that money in a player like Chad Greenway. And he ended up going to the Pro Bowl last year."

Minnesota Vikings LB Chad Greenway played a whopping 1,056 snaps in 2011, or a 99.8 percent of his team's defensive plays. He led the team in that category, and he posted a career-high 174 tackles, including 104 solo stops and 13 tackles for loss. However, he was also credited with 16 missed tackles.

After being rewarded with a five-year, $41 million contract, LB Chad Greenway said Monday, Jan. 2, that he pressed during the early part of the season. "I think getting the contract early in the season you almost try to put more pressure on yourself, then you realize you can't do that," Greenway said. "You've just got to be yourself. I think I realized that three or four weeks in. Just go out there and play and have fun and things will take care of themselves."

"They have a brace there to protect him," Frazier said Friday, Dec. 9, "but he shouldn't have a problem with tackling and getting people to the ground."
