Citing a report from the NFL Network's Adam Schefter, the Boston Globe's Mike Reiss reports the New England Patriots have had talks with free-agent CB Tory James (Bengals). James' agent, Mark Bartelstein, has confirmed the two sides were talking. "The Patriots are obviously a terrific organization and we've had conversations. There are a number of teams that we've talked to, and we hope to get something done this week," Bartelstein said.

Adams's investment group includes RB Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Reds OF Ken Griffey Jr. and Reds team physician Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Bengals CB Tory James and WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh are also expected to join the investment group, according to Adams. The defensive lineman also owns the Everett Hawks, which is another af2 team.
