Head coach Brad Childress said Sharper was improved Monday, Oct. 2, but his status for the Week 5 game is still uncertain. S Greg Blue would start the game if Sharper is unable to go.

"Me and coach made a decision and this is the best answer we came up with. We've been talking about it for a while. We had a couple options we could have taken, and this is what we decided." Rookie SS Greg Blue started in his place and Smith is expected to play Week 2.
