Wed, 09 Mar 2016 15:36:44 -0800

Free-agent TE Marcedes Lewis (Jaguars) signed a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars after a late pursuit by the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis will still play behind Julius Thomas in Jacksonville as long as Thomas is healthy. Lewis may vulture a couple touchdowns, but he shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters.

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 17:10:42 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said he hopes the team will be able to re-sign impending free-agent TE Marcedes Lewis this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis caught only 16 passes this season and was used more as a blocker. Lewis could decide to sign with another team to have a bigger offensive role but would still not be a starting option in fantasy leagues.

Jaguars | Two Jags probable

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 09:56:18 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Hurns (ankle, thigh) and TE Marcedes Lewis (knee) practiced Friday, Oct. 9, and are probable for Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Hurns ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is coming off an 11-catch game and is worth the basement flyer on FantasyScore. Lewis ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) was targeted eight times last week and hauled in five grabs for 40 yards. He, too, is a basement flyer worth consideration.

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 20:25:22 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis was targeted four times in the Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins, but he had no offensive statistics.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is not taking advantage of the absence of Julius Thomas (finger), and can generally be avoided in FantasyScore.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to see lesser role

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:42:30 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis is in what is expected to be his final season with the team, and with TE Julius Thomas now in the mix Lewis should see time as a blocker and less as a pass catcher.

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas is able to stay healthy then the fantasy appeal for Lewis will be negligible, especially with Clay Harbor projected to be the primary backup.

Jaguars | Jags' tight ends to be used often

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 05:57:14 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TEs Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor will still have roles in the team's 2015 offense with plenty of two- and three-tight end sets to be used. "This system is very exciting," Harbor said. "It uses the tight ends a lot and it gives our [meeting] room more opportunities to make plays," said Harbor. TE Julius Thomas will be used as a "move" tight end, with Lewis acting in a more traditional role and remaining on the line. Harbor will also be used as a "move" tight end, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is the only tight end worth drafting out of Jacksonville but Lewis and Harbor could both emerge as occasional FantasyScore options if QB Blake Bortles is able to utilize them near the goal line, or if Thomas misses any time due to injury.

His salary was slashed from $6.8 million to $2.65 million, and he can earn of maximum of $3 million through unlikely playtime incentives. Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis won't be cut

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 14:14:13 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis will not be cut, despite the fact the team just signed TE Julius Thomas. However, other teams have inquired about Lewis in a trade.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Lewis stays with Jacksonville, he will have virtually no fantasy football value behind Thomas. With the Jags, Lewis will likely primarily serve as a blocking tight end, since Thomas' blocking skills are very suspect.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis likely to return to Jags

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 09:05:22 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis will likely remain on the roster despite a salary cap number of $8.2 million in 2015 after the team signed TE Julius Thomas. The Jaguars can now use Lewis as the No. 2 tight end and can line him up on the right side next to OG Brandon Linder and OT Jermey Parnell to run block.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis has dislocated thumb

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 15:26:58 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (thumb) dislocated his thumb on the sixth offensive play of the Week 15 game, but he didn't miss any time against the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis played 60 of the team's 68 offensive snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis is a sleeper play in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans, but his lack of involvement as a pass-catching tight end makes him a very weak option on a weekly basis at FantasyScore.

Jaguars | Clay Harbor demoted

Tue, 25 Nov 2014 10:23:27 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor has been demoted to third-string after the return of TE Marcedes Lewis. TE Nic Jacobs has kept the No. 2 job, as Harbor played just six snaps in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Harbor can officially be ignored for now at FantasyScore with his demotion. Lewis ($3,400) is more of a blocking tight end than a pass-catcher, though, so he's not a very wise option, even in Week 13 against the New York Giants.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson placed on IR

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 10:40:30 -0800

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed WR Allen Robinson (foot) on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 17. The team also activated TE Marcedes Lewis from the Active/Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Cecil Shorts and Allen Hurns likely will receive more targets in the passing game with Robinson out for the season, but are not automatic starts at this point. Marqise Lee could also receive a bigger role in the passing game.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to return soon

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 14:26:37 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (ankle), who has been out since suffering a high left ankle sprain Sept. 14, is expected to be activated from the short-term Reserve/Injured list as soon as Monday, Nov. 17, when the team returns from the bye week. TE Clay Harbor has caught 25 passes for 272 yards in Lewis' absence. Head coach Gus Bradley expects the team's blocking to improve when Lewis returns.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis isn't much of a fantasy football contributor, as the Jaguars like to use him as a blocker frequently. However, his return will likely spell the end of Harbor's fantasy value in deeper leagues.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis limited again

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 13:46:34 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (ankle) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis remains on the short-term Reserve/Injured list, but the Jags hope to have him back later next month. Clay Harbor ($4,300) has performed admirably in Lewis' absence, and he remains a viable, cheap option at tight end for your FantasyScore lineups.
