Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis to see lesser role

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 19:42:30 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis is in what is expected to be his final season with the team, and with TE Julius Thomas now in the mix Lewis should see time as a blocker and less as a pass catcher.

Fantasy Tip: If Thomas is able to stay healthy then the fantasy appeal for Lewis will be negligible, especially with Clay Harbor projected to be the primary backup.

Jaguars | Jags' tight ends to be used often

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 05:57:14 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TEs Marcedes Lewis and Clay Harbor will still have roles in the team's 2015 offense with plenty of two- and three-tight end sets to be used. "This system is very exciting," Harbor said. "It uses the tight ends a lot and it gives our [meeting] room more opportunities to make plays," said Harbor. TE Julius Thomas will be used as a "move" tight end, with Lewis acting in a more traditional role and remaining on the line. Harbor will also be used as a "move" tight end, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is the only tight end worth drafting out of Jacksonville but Lewis and Harbor could both emerge as occasional FantasyScore options if QB Blake Bortles is able to utilize them near the goal line, or if Thomas misses any time due to injury.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis won't be cut

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 14:14:13 -0700

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis will not be cut, despite the fact the team just signed TE Julius Thomas. However, other teams have inquired about Lewis in a trade.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Lewis stays with Jacksonville, he will have virtually no fantasy football value behind Thomas. With the Jags, Lewis will likely primarily serve as a blocking tight end, since Thomas' blocking skills are very suspect.

Jaguars | Marcedes Lewis has dislocated thumb

Mon, 15 Dec 2014 15:26:58 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (thumb) dislocated his thumb on the sixth offensive play of the Week 15 game, but he didn't miss any time against the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis played 60 of the team's 68 offensive snaps.

Fantasy Tip: Lewis is a sleeper play in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans, but his lack of involvement as a pass-catching tight end makes him a very weak option on a weekly basis at FantasyScore.
