Head coach Bill Callahan said the injury was an arthritic condition that his center has been successfully dealing with throughout the season. If Robbins is unable to go, C Adam Treu will get his first start at center since last year's Super Bowl. Treu will also serve as the long snapper.

Raiders C Adam Treu will start the Friday, Aug. 22 pre-season game against the Minnesota Vikings. Raiders C Matt Stinchcomb will follow Treu and C Barret Robbins will play in his second straight game. A decision is forthcoming as soon as this weekend, Callahan intimated. "In all fairness to the players, I want to settle it as soon as I can," Callahan said.

Updating previous reports, Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders C Adam Treu is contemplating a face-to-face meeting with head coach Bill Callahan to discuss where he stands in the competition at center. Treu, the one-time projected starter, has been playing with the third team while C Matt Stinchcomb has been working with the first team for the last four days. "I don't know how to take it," Treu said. "I took it as a little bit of a demotion. And it hurt." Callahan, when pressed on the issue, did not give any indication of the direction he was going.

Updating previous reports, Jay Glazer, of SportsLine.com, reports Oakland Raiders starting C Barret Robbins gave the team a distraction they didn’t need when preparing for the Super Bowl. He wasn’t present for several team activities on Saturday. As reported, he could be benched because of it. He didn’t return to the team until later Saturday evening and it’s not clear as to why he missed the day. Sources said head coach Bill Callahan informed the team that Robbins would likely be benched in favor of backup Adam Treu.

Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times reports for the Sporting News Oakland Raiders G Frank Middleton is the current favorite to take over for LG Steve Wisniewski, who is retiring from the NFL. Adam Treu, who started 16 games at center last season, is also a candidate. Middleton started 14 games at right guard. With right guard Mo Collins and regular center Barret Robbins both expected back from injuries, Middleton and True will have to move. Matt Stinchcomb could be the wild card in the battle to fill Wisniewski's spot.

Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the Oakland Raiders have signed free agent C Aaron Graham. He signed last year as an unrestricted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was released, and did not play. He was in training camp with Oakland this summer, but was released before the start of the season. Graham will take over the deep-snapping and placement-snapping chores from Adam Treu, who the Raiders want to focus on his new role as the starter. Long-term the Raiders want to backup left tackle Matt Stinchcomb to center.

Updating earlier reports, the AP reports Oakland Raiders C Barret Robbins injured a ligament in his right knee and will miss at least one game. Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that Robbins apparently tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the fourth quarter against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Robbins was scheduled to undergo an MRI exam on Monday. For the time being, the Raiders plan to start Adam Treu, the long snapper listed behind Robbins on the depth chart.
