The Associated Press reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable asked a court Thursday, April 15, to throw out a civil suit filed by former assistant coach Randy Hanson. Cable allegedly attacked Hanson at a training camp meeting in August, leaving him with a fractured haw and broken teeth. In a motion filed in Alameda County (Calif.) Superior Court, Cable argued that Hanson's case against Cable and the team should be decided in arbitration under NFL rules. A hearing is scheduled for May 13.

The Associated Press reports former Oakland Raiders assistant Randy Hanson sued head coach Tom Cable and the team Tuesday, Feb. 23, for damages suffered during a training camp scuffle that resulted in Hanson being treated for a fractured jaw and broken teeth. The suit alleged that Cable "without warning or provocation" grabbed Hanson during an Aug. 5 coaches meeting. Cable then threw Hanson against the wall, causing the left side of Hanson's face to strike a table, then hit Hanson while he was on the floor, according to the lawsuit. The suit alleged that after other coaches restrained Cable, he threatened to kill Hanson. The lawsuit accuses Cable of assault, battery and intention infliction of emotional distress. It claims the team made only a cursory investigation of the attack and ratified Cable's conduct by failing to discipline him and by not allowing Hanson to remain as an assistant coach.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable was surprised to learn assistant coach Randy Hanson returned to the team's building Wednesday, Dec. 9. Cable did not know if Hanson was returning to work or if he would have a role on the field. Sources said Hanson was working in the scouting department Wednesday.

Sports, reports the Oakland Raiders are bracing for the possibility that head coach Tom Cable could soon be arrested in relation to an alleged assault on assistant coach Randy Hanson. Criminal charges against Cable could lead to a suspension by the NFL. "Everybody is trying to figure out who's going to take over if Tom isn't here," said an assistant coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "John Marshall has a lot of experience, he's probably the guy. But it's nuts. It's crazy when you start to really think about it."

Steve Corkran, of the Oakland Tribune, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about his alleged role in a training camp incident in which assistant coach Randy Hanson sustained a broken jaw after being struck by another Oakland coach, according to Jay Glazer, of FOX Sports. Goodell could take disciplinary action based on results from an investigation conducted by the Napa Police Department.

Jason La Canfora, of the NFL Network, reports Oakland Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson told Napa Valley (Calif.) police last week that he was struck by head coach Tom Cable and suffered a broken jaw, according to Hanson's attorney, John McGuinn. McGuinn would not go into specific details about what Hanson told police, but he called the case "a textbook case of felony assault." McGuinn said Hanson has continued to receive paychecks from the team since the Aug. 5 incident, but Hanson has been told to stay away from the team's facility. McGuinn said Hanson was interviewed for roughly 90 minutes Friday, Sept. 25, and he has turned over his medical records detailing his broken jaw.

Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports the Napa, Calif., Police Department is continuing its investigation involving an assault allegedly involving Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable and defensive assistant Randy Hanson. Cable reportedly assaulted Hanson in an Aug. 5 incident during the team's training camp in Napa. Hanson reportedly suffered a broken jaw in the incident. Napa police commander Andy Lewis said Tuesday, Sept. Sept. 22, the case is "ongoing." Lewis said there is no timetable to conclude the investigation.

Hanson suffered a fractured jaw when he was allegedly attacked by head coach Tom Cable in a meeting room Aug. 5, according to sources. Napa police took a report from Hanson the next day. Cmdr. Andy Lewis said, "We don't have any new updates at this time." Lewis added he had no timetable either. If medical records show that Hanson's jaw is indeed fractured, his assailant could potentially face felony charges.

Updating an ongoing story, Brad Biggs, of The National Football Post, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable allegedly knocked assistant coach Randy Hanson out of his chair and up against a wall and into a cabinet, according to a source. The source said Cable was choking Hanson and threatening his life until other people pulled Cable off of Hanson but Cable went after Hanson again. "Cable said, 'I am going to kill you, I am going to kill you,' as he was choking him," according to the source.

CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson intends to cooperate with Napa (Calif.) police in a possible assault investigation involving head coach Tom Cable, according to the National Football Post. Hanson's attorney will provide medical records to the police Friday, Aug. 21, that show Hanson suffered a broken jaw in the alleged Aug. 5 incident. Lt. Brian McGovern has said felony charges are possible if Hanson's jaw is broken. Cable said, "We're still going to handle it internally. The one thing I will tell you is that when all the facts come out, everything will be fine."

After initially calling it "an internal issue that we are dealing with," Cable denied anything transpired at all with Hanson earlier this month. Cable allegedly punched Hanson in the jaw. "Nothing happened," Cable said Tuesday, Aug. 18, when asked about it following a joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers. ESPN.com reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable denied reports Monday, Aug. 17, that he punched defensive assistant Randy Hanson in the jaw and caused injuries that required treatment at a hospital earlier this month. Cable's claims are backed by former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah, who told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that Hanson broke a facial bone when his cheek hit a cabinet in a team meeting room when Cable flipped him out of his chair, according to a source. Jeremiah also wrote on his Twitter page that Cable reacted when Hanson spoke profanely to defensive coordinator John Marshall. He rebuked Hanson, then pushed his chair, which caused the injury.

Sources said Hanson never saw the punch from Cable coming. Hanson reportedly suffered a fractured jaw as a result of the altercation, according to a league source.
