Jets | Brandon Marshall nursing sore hip

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 21:55:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (hip) was held out of the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the New York Giants due to a sore hip, head coach Todd Bowles said. The decision was made Friday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't sound terribly serious and Marshall has two weeks to rest before the regular season opener. He'll be 100 percent by then, and he remains a WR1 in all fantasy formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall inactive Saturday

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 15:12:00 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will not play against the New York Giants on Saturday, Aug. 27. According to multiple sources, Marshall is not known to be dealing with an injury. Undrafted rookie free agent Robby Anderson will start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was spotted chatting it up with personnel director Brian Heimerdinger and talking with fans along the sideline, so it appears the Jets are just making sure their top receiver enters the regular season healthy since he has little to prove as an 11th-year pro. Marshall may not finish as the third-highest scoring receiver in fantasy again this year, but there is little doubt he'll be a WR1 if he plays 16 games again in 2016.

Jets | Brandon Marshall battles Darrelle Revis

Fri, 05 Aug 2016 18:12:03 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall was involved in a fight with CB Darrelle Revis during practice Friday, Aug. 5, but Marshall said it was an isolated incident.

Fantasy Tip: While Marshall may not replicate his 1,500-yard campaign from last year, he should still be a solid WR2 with Ryan Fitzpatrick back in the fold.

Jets | Brandon Marshall sheds weight

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 08:30:33 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall arrived at camp Wednesday, July 27, at 224.8 pounds, which is 10 pounds lighter than he was last season. Six weeks ago, he weighed 244 pounds, and he was instructed to get under 230 pounds.

Fantasy Tip: While it's great that he appears in great shape, there are concerns when you drop a lot of weight in a short time period. For one, it's usually not sustainable. It could also play a factor in propensity to injury. Your body isn't accustomed to being at said condition, and alarms can emerge, especially playing such a physical sport. Marshall at age 32, in his 11th season, is someone to monitor in training camp. He's coming off a brilliant 109-1,502-14 season, and he's a consideration as a low-end WR1.

Jets | Quincy Enunwa set to be third receiver?

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:10:05 -0700

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa currently has the inside track on being the No. 3 wide receiver. He will battle with WRs Kenbrell Thompkins, Jalin Marshall and Devin Smith (knee) for roster spots and playing time behind WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker are both viable No. 2 receivers for your fantasy squad and also provide a reliable floor. There's a tremendous falloff after them, though. Additionally, there isn't a lot of fantasy value for the third receiver in the passing game, especially if tight end Jace Amaro reestablishes himself as a pass catcher. At this point, Enunwa and Thompkins are potential late-round fliers in deep leagues, but they are likely best left to the waiver wire. Marshall and Smith don't currently move the fantasy needle.

Jets | Brandon Marshall trying to shed weight

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 13:49:14 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will ideally play at 230 pounds throughout the 2016 season, if head coach Todd Bowles has his way. Marshall said he's played at an average of 234 pounds to 235 pounds the last five seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Playing a little lighter should give Marshall more speed. Either way, he's a low-end WR1 target in fantasy drafts even if Ryan Fitzpatrick is not re-signed.

Jets | Brandon Marshall praises Geno Smith

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 21:54:29 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said it seems like the game has slowed down for QB Geno Smith, and he added that Smith has been playing with poise during OTAs.

Fantasy Tip: Depending on how the Ryan Fitzpatrick situation plays out, Smith could be starting for the Jets in Week 1. However, there is nothing in Smith's history that suggests he can be more than a low-end fantasy backup.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker practicing

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 07:32:55 -0700

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are participating in organized team activities Wednesday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Both Marshall and Decker have skipped some workouts this offseason but will be the two main targets in the passing game this season. Both should be starting options in all leagues, but their value will be determined by the team's quarterback. Marshall and Decker would see their value drop if the starting quarterback is not Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Jets | Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall back

Tue, 31 May 2016 07:13:47 -0700

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall were back at practice for organized team activities Tuesday, May 31, after sitting out the opening week in a show of solidarity for the unsigned QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker enjoyed fine chemistry with Fitz in 2015, and their fantasy value depends heavily on whether the Jets bring the grizzled QB back for another season. If Fitzpatrick re-signs, consider Marshall a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2. Decker is more of a midrange No. 2 option.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker absent

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:39:48 -0700

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are both not in attendance for organized team activities this week. Head coach Todd Bowles downplayed their absence, but Decker stayed away because he's upset that the Jets have yet to re-sign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The reason for Marshall's absence is unclear.

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense for both Marshall and Decker to be upset with the Fitzpatrick situation. Both receivers developed nice chemistry with the Amish Rifle in 2015, and their production depends greatly on whether he returns. If Fitz moves on, Geno Smith would likely be delivering the pigskin through the air, and that's a sizable dropoff. Marshall and Decker's fantasy value would take a big hit if Fitz isn't re-signed.

Jets | Brandon Marshall cleared in lawsuit

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 16:13:09 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall was cleared by a jury Saturday, April 9, in a lawsuit by a woman claiming she was assaulted in a 2012 incident, according to his attorney Harvey Steinberg.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't expected to be any league-imposed ramifications because of the event, but monitor the situation accordingly. Marshall is a solid WR2 in fantasy, but he's without a quarterback right now. Things could change before draft day.

Jets | Brandon Marshall wants QB back

Sat, 12 Mar 2016 20:21:51 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he doesn't want to see free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) in "another jersey."

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had one of the best years of his career last season with Fitzpatrick under center. If the Jets don't re-sign Fitzpatrick, his replacement will have a big impact on Marshall's value.

Jets | Brandon Marshall doesn't want Kaep

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 10:46:35 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he doesn't want the team to acquire San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick and wants the team to re-sign impending free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. "I don't want Kaepernick," Marshall said on ESPN's "First Take." "I think he's good. My guy's Fitz," Marshall explained. "It's nothing against Kaepernick, but what I'm saying is that I have my quarterbacks and I'm good."

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick had a breakthrough season and would be in the low-end QB1 range if he re-ups with the Jets.

Jaguars | Allen Robinson hits century mark

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 18:27:08 -0800

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson posted five receptions for 108 yards in the Week 17 game against the Houston Texans. He was targeted nine times. He finished with 14 touchdown receptions, tied with New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall and Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin for the league lead.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson emerged as a must-have fantasy option this season, posting five 100-yard receiving games in his final nine outings. He'll be a Top 15 fantasy option in most formats heading into 2016, if not higher.

Jets | Brandon Marshall surpasses 100-yard mark

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 14:46:40 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall caught eight passes for 126 yards and one touchdown against the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was very productive in his first season with the Jets and recorded at least 1,000 yards for the eighth time in his last nine seasons. Marshall should continue his solid play next season and will be an early-round option in most leagues.

Jets | Brandon Marshall surprised by success

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 18:24:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall has a career-high 13 touchdowns and recorded his record sixth 100-catch season in 2015, but he said he didn't expect to have as much success as he has had when he was traded to the Jets this past offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets were supposed to be a run-first offense, but Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has headlined a potent passing attack. He has been a WR1 candidate most of the year at FantasyScore, and he should be a strong option in Week 17 against a vulnerable Buffalo secondary.

Jets | WR duo good to go for Jets

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 11:27:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) and WR Eric Decker (knee) practiced fully Friday, Jan. 1, and are probable for Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) has been unbelievable this season and is a WR1 consideration against the Buffalo Bills. Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) is a solid WR2 candidate on FantasyScore.

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 11:47:42 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) are two of the more productive receivers in the NFL this year. Both should be fine plays even at a high price on FantasyScore against a suspect Buffalo Bills defense that struggles to generate pressure on the quarterback.

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 15:29:47 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) and WR Eric Decker (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) have been consistent fantasy options for owners this season and should be starting options in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 14:25:44 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall caught eight passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns against the New England Patriots in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has become one of the top fantasy receivers this season and will be a popular option for owners next week against the Buffalo Bills. He has posted at least 100 yards in four of his last five games and has six touchdowns in that span.

Jets | The big three are probable for the Jets

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 14:02:21 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 25, and are probable for the Week 16 game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) is a fringe starter in 12-team seasonal leagues, but you should be able to find better upside in his price range at FantasyScore. Decker ($7,100, 14.2%) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6%) have both become must-start receivers in yearly formats, and while they're worth a look at FantasyScore this week, New England has only allowed 230.3 passing yards per game this season.

Jets | Three Jets practice in full

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 11:29:45 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) all practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Fitz ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has been steady for the Jets, but he's only thrown for 300 yards one time this year. However, he came close to that mark and threw two touchdowns last time he faced the Pats. He's not a bad sleeper target. Decker ($7,100, 14.2% of cap) and Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) have been two of the more consistent receivers, and they both should have acceptable games against New England, especially if the Jets are playing catchup.

Jets | Three Jets fully practice Wednesday

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 15:57:50 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ankle) and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's just another day on the injury report for these regulars, but none of them are in jeopardy of missing Week 16. Marshall ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,100, 14.2%) are better starts than Fitzpatrick ($7,400, 14.8%) this week as the New England Patriots are a top-five fantasy defense against quarterbacks this year. Marshall and Decker are in WR1 and WR2 territory, respectively, while Fitzpatrick should be viewed as a QB2.

Jets | Brandon Marshall dealing with cramps

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 19:42:29 -0800

Updating a previous story, New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (cramps) was able to return against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 after being treated for cramps.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall caught a pass on his first series back, and the good news for his fantasy owners is that Marshall wasn't dealing with any type of serious injury.

Sat, 19 Dec 2015 19:33:18 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (arm) went to the locker room against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 after pointing to his arm.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on his status. If Marshall is unable to return, Eric Decker would likely see a bulk of the targets moving forward.

Jets | WR duo probable for Jets

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 09:20:19 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) and WR Eric Decker (knee) practiced fully Friday, Dec. 18, and are probable for Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Decker ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) have performed extremely well this year. Marshall's price has gotten to the point where there isn't a lot of comfort considering Julio Jones is $300 more. The Dallas Cowboys aren't a bad matchup, and he's a top 10 player the last two weeks. So there is merit to spend the resources. Decker is a solid WR2.

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 13:23:42 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) participated fully in practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Decker ($6,900, 13.8%) have been two of the most consistent teammate wide receivers this season. The matchup with the Dallas Cowboys isn't the greatest, but they're still solid options on FantasyScore. Dallas has played tremendous defense against quarterbacks, though, so Fitzpatrick may not be a good play.

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 14:59:59 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WR Brandon Marshall (ankle) all practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Dallas Cowboys have held their own against receivers this year, but Decker ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) and Marshall ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) have been productive all year and should continue to produce for their owners. Fitzpatrick ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should be serviceable, but the Jets will probably feature the ground attack often against Dallas.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall recorded a career-best eighth 100-yard game of the season in a 30-8 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has been good for 100 yards and a score on a routine basis this season, and he is WR1 material at FantasyScore just about every week.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall finished with six catches for 125 yards and a touchdown in a 30-8 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall has now topped 100 yards in three straight games and has caught at least one touchdown in six straight. Keep using him at FantasyScore until he cools off.

Jets | Three Jets expected to play

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 11:29:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Eric Decker (knee), QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, ankle) all practiced in full the entire week and are probable again the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans have allowed the most PPR fantasy points (49.7) to receivers in the last three games, so both Decker ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) and Marshall ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should be safe daily plays. Fitz ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) had his best game of the season last week and could follow that up with another strong effort. The Titans have been a top-10 matchup for quarterbacks all season.

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 15:06:02 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (ankle, ribs) and WR Eric Decker (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) and Decker ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) should both be able to play against the Tennessee Titans this week. Both players have been very productive for the Jets this season and should be starting options for owners on FantasyScore.

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 14:34:47 -0800

New York Jets WRs Eric Decker (knee) and Brandon Marshall (ribs, ankle) and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Fantasy Tip: The Tennessee Titans have been pretty accommodating to opposing pass defenses, so Fitzpatrick ($7,300, 14.6% of cap), Marshall ($7,700, 15.4%) and Decker ($6,800, 13.6%) all remain good FantasyScore plays. They've been one of the most consistent offensive trios all year.

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 10:14:15 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall became the first player in NFL history to record at least one 1,000-yard season with four different teams.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall currently has 1,062 yards with the Jets and seems to have good chemistry with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Marshall probably will have a favorable matchup against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 and should be a starting option in all leagues.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) pulled down 12 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown in the Week 13 game against the New York Giants. He was targeted 13 times.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall showed no ill effects of his toe or ankle issues which had him listed on the injury report. The 100-yard game was his seventh of the season, and he has at least one touchdown in each of his past five games. Marshall also has 10 touchdown receptions this season, emerging as a must-start WR1 in all fantasy formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall looking to stay put

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 10:02:03 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said he intends to end his career with the Jets. "Once the Jets say, 'We don't need you anymore,' I'm going to venture off into that world," Marshall told the New York Daily News. "I'm not playing for another team. Four is all I need. It's too hard to make new friends and relationships and deal with different egos. I don't like the business already. So I'm not trying to deal with that."

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) isn't playing like he's near the end with a 72-931-9 stat line through 11 games. He's a low-end WR1 consideration against the New York Giants on FantasyScore.

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 14:05:20 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The New York Giants have been mediocre versus wide receivers this year for the most part, but they do yield 184.3 yards per game to the position -- eighth most in the NFL. Marshall ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) has had a great 2015 campaign so far, and, as long as he plays, he should be viewed as a WR1 this week.

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall had nine catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-20 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall found the end zone for the fourth straight game, and he snapped a streak of three straight games with less than 50 receiving yards. He now has six 100-yard games for the year, and he deserves weekly consideration at FantasyScore.

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and WRs Brandon Marshall (toe) and Eric Decker (knee) are listed as probable for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: The Dolphins are a very average fantasy defense against quarterbacks and wide receivers. Fitzpatrick ($6,100, 12.2% of cap), Marshall ($7,300, 14.6%) and Decker ($7,200, 14.4%) aren't the best plays at their respective positions this week, but they're still worth strong consideration on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) have good matchups against a Miami Dolphins team that has struggled against WRs the last five weeks. Both are high-end WR2 considerations on FantasyScore.

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 14:41:50 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap), despite playing through nagging injuries, has 10 targets in each of the last two games and has three straight games with a touchdown. He's a pretty safe wideout option on FantasyScore.

Fri, 20 Nov 2015 18:15:12 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall said opponents have been copying the defensive strategy used by the New England Patriots in Week 7 and bracketing him for entire games.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) has just one 100-yard game in his last four contests, and he has had four or fewer catches three times during the same stretch. With defenses focusing on shutting down Marshall, he hasn't been living up to his price tag at FantasyScore.

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) and Eric Decker (knee) both practiced in full Friday, Nov. 20, and are probable for Week 11 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Both Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) continue to fight through nagging injuries this year, but they've both been productive when on the field. There's no reason to think that will change against the Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) and Decker ($7,200, 14.4%) are facing a better than average pass defense in the Houston Texans, so don't expect as much out of them as you normally would. Powell still has minimal fantasy value with Chris Ivory starting, but he does have some appeal in PPR scoring formats.

Jets | Limited practice for Brandon Marshall

Wed, 18 Nov 2015 15:04:28 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe, ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should be fine to play against the Houston Texans in Week 11. He's scored in his last two games but will have a quarterback coming off thumb surgery in this one. There's a lot to like with Marshall on FantasyScore, but this may not be one of them.

Jets | Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker sit

Mon, 16 Nov 2015 16:30:13 -0800

New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall (ankle, toe) and Eric Decker (shoulder) both sat out of practice Monday, Nov. 16, although the Jets weren't required to submit an official injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall and Decker have been battling nagging injuries for most of the year but have remained productive. Their quarterback is expected to play after having surgery last week, which could present even more questions. However, as long as both are active and playing, they're both certainly usable players on FantasyScore in Week 11 against the Houston Texans. Check their practice statuses this week.
