Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is likely to be matched up often against Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr in Week 14. "I don't like playing against Brandon Carr," Marshall said. "He presents a lot of tough challenges throughout a game. You'll notice he changes up his game when he plays against bigger receivers. He's strong. He's physical. He plays that way against guys like myself. I absolutely hate the matchup. It's like playing chess out there with him. Every single play is a battle. He just makes you work so hard."

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall gave Baltimore Ravens CB Lardarius Webb credit for doing a great job against him in past meetings. The two will battle again in Week 11 when the Bears meet the Ravens at Soldier Field Sunday, Nov. 17. "He pretty much dominated me," Marshall said. "You look on piece of paper, and you see that he's a fairly small guy compared to other guys around the league. But he's probably one of the strongest corners I've ever faced."
Fantasy Tip: Marshall is still a must-start in all fantasy leagues, regardless of the matchup. It sounds like Webb has gotten into Marshall's head a little bit, but you can still expect a solid stat line from the All-Pro receiver.
Wed, 13 Nov 2013 20:44:05 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers CB Ike Taylor is likely to draw the task of trying to stop or limit WR Calvin Johnson in Week 11. He has played well against some of the league's premier receivers, and limited Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green to a season-low 41 yards in their matchup in Week 2. Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall was also limited to just 52 yards, his second-lowest yardage total of the year, in Week 3 while working against Taylor.
Fantasy Tip: Regardless of what Taylor has done in previous games against other receivers, you never, ever sit Johnson in fantasy leagues unless he is hurt or one a bye. Period.

I heard [head coach Marc Trestman] talking about doctors, their diagnoses and talking all that big talk. But we need to get Jay out there for Green Bay."
Fantasy Tip: There does not appear to be any indication that Cutler will be able to play this week. He likely will need another week or two before he can return to the starting lineup.

Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery is tied with Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker for the most receiving yards in the league in the last five weeks, with 561. Jeffery leads his team in yards over WR Brandon Marshall (540).
Fantasy Tip: Jeffery has been one of the nice suprises for fantasy owners this year, but his value may have already reached its peak now that Jay Cutler (groin) is out. Jeffery is unlikely to be as productive with Josh McCown running the offense.

Mon, 21 Oct 2013 10:19:37 -0700
The Chicago Bears are awaiting the MRI results on Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (groin) Monday, Oct. 21, and they are bracing themselves for bad news. Cutler could be out for most of the remaining 10 weeks of the season if it's a serious groin injury. QB Josh McCown would take over for Cutler if he has to miss any time. The Bears would likely re-sign QB Jordan Palmer to back up McCown.
Fantasy Tip: If you own Cutler, starting making plans to add another quarterback. Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, as well as Martellus Bennett, will likely suffer if Cutler misses most of the rest of the year.
Mon, 21 Oct 2013 10:00:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall caught just four passes for 30 yards in the team's Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints, and QB Jay Cutler targeted him only five times. The Saints double covered Marshall for the majority of the game. "They weren't going to let him have a good day," Cutler said of New Orleans' defense. "They decided, 'Hey, it's not going to happen.' They were going to take him out of the ball game. He still made some plays for us. He might be frustrated, but we just have to keep getting better and better, and he understands that."
Marshall voiced some frustration over his role as a decoy, but head coach Marc Trestman said: "I want to get Brandon the ball. We want to get Brandon the ball. There were a couple of shots early. Jay looked back and he was open a couple of times, then protection got in his face and he was forced to move, which was disappointing. That starts with me. I've got to do a better job of getting him involved."
Fantasy Tip: Opposing defenses are starting to take Marshall out of the game with double teams, freeing up more looks for Alshon Jeffery and Matt Forte. Marshall won't be held down forever, but there will be more frustrating games like this in the future.

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (hip) said Tuesday, Aug. 27, that he is still isn't feeling comfortable seven months after hip surgery. "It's one of those things where I'm just trying to get healthy for Week 1," Marshall said. "So you've got to have a game plan coming off surgery, a third hip surgery. So yeah, I'm not where I want to be right now. It's a little frustrating. But we'll see."
Fantasy Tip: This isn't the kind of thing fantasy owners want to necessarily hear less than two weeks before the regular season. However, it doesn't sound serious enough to keep Marshall from missing time, but he could be nagged by minor pain during the season. And since he has had three hip surgeries, it is always an area of concern.
Sun, 11 Aug 2013 17:01:35 -0700
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall and DE Julius Peppers were held out of the preseason game Friday, Aug. 12, against the Carolina Panthers due to coach's decision.

Fri, 02 Aug 2013 07:00:53 -0700
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said he plans to play at 235 pounds, which is about 5 pounds heavier than he's accustomed to playing. Marshall said he added the weight to try to break tackles and improve his yard-per-catch ratio. "The thing that separates me, the thing that I can be the best at is breaking tackles and getting upfield," Marshall said. "So I'm focused on getting stronger, especially my hip, my waist down area and maybe playing with a few extra pounds. I played since my freshman year in college at 230. This year I'm going to play at 235. I'm lean like I was in college at about 6.3 percent body fat, ready to rock and roll."
Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be taken as a grain of salt. Adding weight, whether it's bulk or not, restricts flexibility and could reduce his breakaway speed. He's already dealing with a hip problem, and the added weight to the lower body can just put more torque on his body - not to mention the potential speed reduction could lead to more hits. Five pounds isn't a lot, and probably won't make a big difference. However, the difference in separating from a defender is miniscule as well. We aren't saying you should avoid Marshall or he isn't worth being a No. 1 fantasy receiver. We are simply saying, if you own him, monitor him. He could have a career season and make this a moot point. Or...

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (hip) expects to have a full workload during training camp, which begins Friday, July 26. WR Alshon Jeffery (hamstring), who missed organized team activities in June with a pulled hamstring, is also expected to be fully healthy. "No limitations," Marshall said, "but we're gonna be smart. I'm going on my eighth year, (have) had a few hip surgeries, nothing major. But at the same time, we start playing games in September. So that's what I'm preparing for. It's important to get out there with your teammates, build that chemistry, learn the offense, get reps. But at the same time, if I'm not healthy, all that doesn't matter. So I'm going to listen to my body, and go as it tells me."
Tue, 23 Jul 2013 08:18:40 -0700
Chicago Bears WRs Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery and Earl Bennett are locks for the 53-man roster, but after that it is wide open. WRs Joe Anderson and Eric Weems might lock up a fourth receiver job, and could be battling each other since they are each solid on special teams. WR Devin Aromashodu is in the mix for a job, and then there is seventh-round pick Marquess Wilson and WR Devin Hester, who is more known for his prowess as a return man. The team is likely to keep five receivers plus Hester.
Wed, 17 Jul 2013 19:09:03 -0700
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall said Tuesday, July 16, that he hopes the offseason addition of TE Martellus Bennett will take some of the receiving pressure off him. Marshall had career highs with 118 receptions, 194 targets and 1,508 yards. The Bears receiver with the next highest number of targets was WR Earl Bennett, with 49. Marshall feels the wear and tear might have led to his offseason hip surgery. "I am (looking forward to having more weapons)," Marshall said. "It was tough sledding last year. I think that's why I had to have surgery. I had 2-3 guys on me every single play, but bringing in big boy Martellus, I don't think the league really knows how good he is."
Fantasy Tip: Marshall will still see plenty of targets and receptions, making him a bona fide No. 1 fantasy wide receiver in all formats. Sure, his numbers won't be as high as they were in 2012, but he remains a Top 10 fantasy option at his position.
