Jets | HC confident in Brandon Marshall

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 10:40:26 -0700

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall could be in line for a breakout season in 2015, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said he thinks Marshall remains a "top-flight receiver." "He understands the game. He's a student of the game. He understands when he has small guys on him. He can get vertical when he needs to get vertical. He's a sharp route runner. He has great hands. He knows how to block. He brings a work ethic and he brings a fire to us that we need on the other side of the ball," Bowles said.

Fantasy Tip: Because of the switch from Jay Cutler to Geno Smith (and maybe Ryan Fitzpatrick) alone, Marshall's fantasy value will sleep to more of a WR2 in New York. However, if Marshall and whoever starts at QB for the Jets develop chemistry, there remains upside, and he could still be very valuable in point-per-reception formats.

Jets | Brandon Marshall passes physical

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 06:57:14 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall passed his physical, and the trade sending him to the New York Jets will become official Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is a volatile fantasy option in 2015. He turns 31 in March, and the Jets' quarterback situation was hideous last season. While we believe he could net 1,000 yards in his sleep, the injury-riddled '14 and lackluster QB situation make us nervous using an early pick on him as a WR2.

Jets | Brandon Marshall may make more money

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 14:35:16 -0800

New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall will receive the opportunity to make more than the $15.8 million he was scheduled to make over the next two seasons after his contract was restructured as part of his trade to the Jets, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall probably will lose some value with his move to the Jets but should still be an option for owners in fantasy drafts. Marshall probably should be considered as a No. 2 receiver in drafts next season.

Jets | Brandon Marshall acquired by Jets

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 08:14:33 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall will be traded to the New York Jets, pending a physical, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall will still have some value in 2015, but it is tough to see him as more than a WR2, especially with the uncertainty at the quarterback position with the Jets.

Bears | Brandon Marshall seems unlikely to return

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 06:39:18 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is being shopped for a mid-round draft pick, and sources indicate that the Bears could release Marshall if they can't strike a deal.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall is a very good WR2 in fantasy, but we're not comfortable anointing him the top spot on the roster anymore.

Bears | Brandon Marshall being shopped

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 08:20:41 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall is being shopped by the team with the idea of trading him, according to a league source. Another league source said his belief is that the team is taking calls on Marshall. The team could move Marshall for a mid-round pick.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall was slowed by injuries in 2014, but there is no reason to think he can't rebound in 2015 and be a low-end WR1 or a WR2, depending on where he lands.

Bears | HC non-committal on Brandon Marshall

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 11:27:49 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall's standing with the team for the upcoming season may be in question, but new head coach John Fox was non-committal about Marshall when asked Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall may be losing a step or two as he's on the wrong side of 30. However, injuries likely were a big reason for his disappointing 2014 season. he can easily bounce back and be a solid midrange WR1 in 2015, no matter where he's playing.

Bears | Brandon Marshall may not return

Fri, 30 Jan 2015 07:32:22 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall may not return to the team in 2015, in the opinion of ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright. The thinking is that Marshall and WR Alshon Jeffery are too similar of receivers, and the team needs more diversity at the position. Wright also wrote that this was strictly a possibility, and he expects Marshall to be on the team in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Marshall had a slew of injuries in '14, and he'll be 31 in March. Will he be a bounce-back candidate or is this the beginning of his decline? We think he'll bounce back, but his 100-1,295-12 days may be over. Look for him as a low-end WR1 or an elite WR2 in traditional leagues next season.
