Edwards would want Favre to sign autographs for the team and share a locker room with the rest of the team. Edwards said he would prefer QB Tarvaris Jackson to start for the Vikings instead of Favre signing with the team.

"I'm not worried about that. I talked with Sage and Tarvaris. They are competitors. Do they like any of the conversation? Absolutely not. But they know this," Childress said. "I'm charged with adding and subtracting players from this team to make us better. Every day when I walk in this office there's not a day that I don't try to look and see if we can get better at some position. And if this is going to make us better down the road and it's got a chance to happen I'm going to take care of the Minnesota Vikings."

Just in terms of the time he spends here, the time he spends in the books, with the wide receivers, in the weight room, strength and conditioning. There's very few people that work as hard as he does in the offseason."

I feel like I'm doing what I've got to do and that's pretty much all I've got say. I've put the time in, like he said, maybe I do have to put extra time in. I guess when you're not doing as well you've got to put the extra time in. But I feel like I'm working hard. I've always been a hard worker," Jackson said.

"I talk to Tarvaris all the time (and) tell him you have to put in the time," Williams said. "This ain't college no more. This is the NFL. You have to put in more time than you are used to putting in. If you are putting in four hours, you have to put in eight. You have to put in more time than what he's doing. I think if he puts the right time in, he will be a great quarterback in the league."

"It wasn't really a big surprise. I kind of figured they were going to make a move somewhere. I really didn't know exactly if it was going to be in the draft or wherever but I knew I was going to have to compete with somebody sometime this year. So it really doesn't matter exactly. I just know the only thing I can do is just take care of my part and that's what I'll try to do," Jackson said.

Jackson Thu, 26 Feb 2009 02:02:06 -0800 Rick Alonzo, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson is entering the final year of his contract. He could, however, run into troubles if the 2010 season remains uncapped. If that happens, he would be a restricted free agent. Players need at least six years of service to be an unrestricted free agent in an uncapped year instead of the four during a capped year.
