Bills | Fred Jackson favorite for No. 2 RB job

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 07:11:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson is expected to be the leading candidate for the No. 2 running back job entering training camp. Jackson will have to contribute on the field if he wants to stay with the team since he does not play special teams.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson should be the favorite since he is the most experienced running back behind LeSean McCoy. Jackson should receive a solid amount of reps during the preseason and could be a late-round option in drafts this season if he wins the job.

Bills | Fred Jackson expects to compete for job

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 14:27:11 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson said he expects to compete for a roster spot during training camp. "We'll see what happens with me getting cut or not," Jackson said. "I'll go out and do whatever I can to make sure that doesn't happen. We've got to compete every year. This year is no different than any other year. I've got to go out and compete for my job."

Fantasy Tip: Jackson likely will be the No. 2 running back this season unless he really struggles during training camp. LeSean McCoy likely will receive a majority of the carries, but Jackson should have a role in the offense. Jackson could be a late-round option in drafts as a handcuff to McCoy or depth at running back.

Bills | LeSean McCoy at 300 carries?

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 08:10:56 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to receive 300 carries this season, according to teammate RB Fred Jackson. "I don't know exactly what my role is going to be, Jackson said. "They say that they want Shady (McCoy) to get 300-plus carries next year. So that's a guy you're feeding the ball all the time. So I'll be ready when my number is called."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy's status as an RB1 seems to be gaining steam into the upper echelon. We still can't see taking him higher than the fifth running back with the uncertainty of the parts around him. Jackson's stock is pretty dormant right now, but he's a solid RB4 and insurance for Shady owners.

Bills | Fred Jackson may miss final cut?

Tue, 12 May 2015 12:10:45 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson may not make the final roster if the Bills end up keeping only three running backs, according to Mike Rodak of ESPN.com. RB LeSean McCoy is a lock for the final roster, while RBs Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown will also compete for a spot.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson was a point-per-reception monster last year and has been a valuable part of the Bills' offense, so it will be interesting to see how the offseason unfolds for Buffalo. McCoy will start barring an injury and, as usual, has RB1 ability in both PPR and standard scoring leagues.

Bills | Fred Jackson undergoes surgery

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 15:28:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson (undisclosed) underwent surgery this offseason and has not been cleared for full practice participation. Jackson is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson should have a solid role in the offense even though the team added LeSean McCoy this offseason. Jackson could be an option in later rounds of drafts as a handcuff to McCoy or a depth player at running back.

Bills | LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson to split third downs?

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 15:05:45 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson could split third-down snaps. Head coach Rex Ryan said Jackson wouldn't be in on all of the third-down plays and that RB Anthony Dixon would also get some playing time.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy is obviously still the Buffalo running back to own and will be the team's bellcow running back, as Ryan has said. Jackson should still provide some value, especially in point-per-reception leagues, but he won't be nearly as effective as he was last season.

Bills | LeSean McCoy Buffalo's bellcow

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 07:31:51 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was referred to as the team's "bellcow" by head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan said that McCoy and RB Fred Jackson could see time on third downs.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like the team will feature McCoy heavily, which helps shed doubt on Jackson's involvement. Jackson's value falls to the high-end RB4 territory, while Shady is best served as a midrange RB1.

Bills | Rex Ryan committed to the run

Sat, 21 Mar 2015 15:57:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson are expected to receive a lot of carries in head coach Rex Ryan's offense. Ryan went as far as to say: "we're going to run it 50 times if we can on you."

Fantasy Tip: This really doesn't change much because it's not often that you can run the ball effectively 50 times against another NFL team. Shady McCoy is a mid-to-low RB1 right now, while Jackson's fantasy appeal is a little clouded. He could be a low-end RB2 or a high-end RB3.

Bills | Fred Jackson not going anywhere

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 10:55:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson "isn't going anywhere," according to a team source.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson's fantasy value is clouded with the addition of LeSean McCoy via trade. The 34-year-old had just 525 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 2014. He should still see some work alongside McCoy, and he could be a goal line consideration, but he shouldn't be anything more than an RB3 with McCoy in the picture.

Bills | Bills set franchise lows in running game

Mon, 29 Dec 2014 09:48:58 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson's 525 rushing yards this year were the fewest by a team-leading running back in a non-strike season since O.J. Simpson had 488 in 1970. The Bills set futility marks in 2014 in 16 games for the lowest total rushing yards (1,482) and fewest rushing first downs (65).
