Packers | Team wants more production out of Hawk

Wed, 10 Dec 2008 18:19:03 -0800

Greg A. Bedard, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers would like to see more production out of LB A.J. Hawk. Linebackers coach Winston Moss said, "A.J. needs to get going. We need to get some more production out of him. I think his talent-level and the position that he's in right now, we can expect more, we're demanding more." Moss said Hawk needs to start just playing the game. Hawk tends to focus solely on his own responsibility during each play, and he doesn't see some of the opponent's weaknesses that would allow him to make a play. Moss added, "He's extremely focused on being assignment-correct at this time. And that's probably affecting his ability to let loose and make some plays."

Hawk played very well in his first start at middle linebacker in Week 11, and they could keep him in the middle for a while. "It's only one game. I hate to speculate. We'll take it a game at a time, but he looked awfully good in there. He looked extremely comfortable. He did play to some of his strengths that we liked with him when we evaluated him coming out of college, so if he continues to improve on that, we'll revisit that question maybe at the end of the year," Moss said. Hawk led the team with seven tackles in the game.
