The Oakland Raiders are in the process of negotiating with Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen Tuesday, Jan. 24, to make him their next head coach. Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Winston Moss and defensive coordinator Dom Capers were told that they were no longer in the running.

There is no word yet as to whether Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie has set up an interview with Green Bay Packers assistant head coach/linebackers coach Winston Moss regarding the team's head coaching vacancy. Moss is thought to be a favorite for the job, based upon his strong relationship with McKenzie, as well as the fact that McKenzie has told people in the past that he intended to hire Moss as his head coach if he ever got in a position to make such a call.

The Oakland Raiders will interview Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg for their head coaching position this weekend, according to a league source. Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice will interview for the same position Tuesday, Jan. 24. Other candidates include Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Winston Moss, offensive coordinator Joe Philbin, defensive coordinator Dom Capers, quarterbacks coach Tom Clements and secondary coach Darren Perry.

Green Bay Packers assistant head coach Winston Moss said Monday, Jan. 16, that he is willing to listen to Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie if he is interested in him for the team's head coaching vacancy. "If the Raiders were to call and ask, I'll be ready to speak with them," Moss said. "But nothing's changed from last week. I feel good where I'm at. If there's an opportunity that comes up in the future, we'll probably cross that bridge at that time. But at this present time, right now, not a lot to talk about."

The Oakland Raiders' search for a head coach should heat up this week following the Green Bay Packers' playoff loss in the Divisional Round to the New York Giants. Packers assistant coaches Winston Moss, Joe Philbin, Dom Capers and Tom Clements became available for head coaching interviews. All have been reported as potential Raiders candidates and had a working relationship with general manager Reggie McKenzie in Green Bay. Oakland reportedly is hoping for a quick decision in naming a new head coach.
