Wed, 15 May 2013 14:38:18 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers SP Jonathan Sanchez will report to Triple-A Albuquerque, and he can opt out of his deal if he's not on the major league roster by July 1. Sanchez was 0-3 with an 11.85 ERA in five games for the Pittsburgh Pirates this year.
Wed, 15 May 2013 12:22:23 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent SP Jonathan Sanchez (Pirates) to a minor league deal Wednesday, May 15. Fantasy Tip: There are no guarantees that Sanchez will make an impact in LA, but he might be worth tucking away in NL-only leagues if you're desperate. Josh Beckett (groin) may land on the disabled list soon, and although Ted Lilly (rib cage, neck) is close to returning, he's lost effectiveness as he ages.
Tue, 14 May 2013 16:45:21 -0700 The Los Angeles Dodgers appear close to signing free-agent SP Jonathan Sanchez (Pirates). Fantasy Tip: Sanchez didn't stick with the Pirates and it may be a long shot that he contributes to the Blue's starting rotation. Sanchez has never been able to display the type of control that would make him a dangerous fantasy baseball pitching commodity. He'll have to prove himself in the minors before the Dodgers take a look at him, but if he does earn a starting job, he'll attract mild interest in deep mixed leagues.
Wed, 08 May 2013 13:42:40 -0700 The Pittsburgh Pirates released RP Jonathan Sanchez Wednesday, May 8.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 13:02:10 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano (arm) struck out nine in six innings with Triple-A Indianapolis Tuesday, April 30. Sixty of his 82 pitches went for strikes, and he didn't walk a single hitter. Liriano struck out eight hitters in his first start with Indy last week. He's expected to throw 100 pitches in his third start for Indy Sunday, May 5, meaning he could join the team's rotation May 10. SP Jonathan Sanchez was designated for assignment Tuesday. Fantasy Tip: Liriano is a very realistic option to take Sanchez's place in the starting rotation, so you should start making plans to acquire him in NL-only leagues if you're desperate for starters. The lack of walks in his rehab outings is encouraging, and if he can keep that up in his return to the majors, he'll be worthy of adding in mixed formats, too.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 12:19:31 -0700 The Pittsburgh Pirates designated SP Jonathan Sanchez for assignment Tuesday, April 30, and recalled RP Bryan Morris from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 14:28:08 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeanmar Gomez will be the starting pitcher for the team's game Wednesday, May 1. SP Jonathan Sanchez will move to the bullpen.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 13:43:25 -0700 Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jonathan Sanchez has been suspended six games and fined by Major League Baseball for hitting St. Louis Cardinals 1B Allen Craig Friday, April 26. Sanchez had allowed back-to-back home runs and a single in the first inning before being ejected by plate umpire Tim Timmons for hitting Craig in the shoulder. Manager Clint Hurdle was also ejected for arguing. Sanchez said he will appeal the decision.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 18:47:06 -0700 Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jonathan Sanchez was ejected Friday, April 26, against the St. Louis Cardinals after throwing at 1B/OF Allen Craig. He had given up three consecutive hits before the incident.
Thu, 04 Apr 2013 23:36:48 -0700 Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp is 11-for-32 (.344) against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jonathan Sanchez with one homer, three doubles and eight RBIs.
