The Kansas City Chiefs hired Chicago Bears special teams coach Dave Toub as their new special teams coach Tuesday, Jan. 15. The team also named Eugene Chung as their assistant offensive line coach and retained linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and defensive backs coach Emmitt Thomas.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel, linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and general manager Scott Pioli, who all witnessed former LB Jovan Belcher's suicide, are among a small group of Chiefs who must attend mandatory counseling, according to Troy Vincent, the NFL's vice president of player engagement. Initial stages of counseling will continue through early next week, with follow-up sessions for individuals and groups scheduled throughout the next three months, or longer if needed.

Payton has spoken to the Cowboys about allowing linebackers coach Gary Gibbs and offensive line coach and running game coordinator Tony Sparano to join him in New Orleans as coordinators. Each is under contract with the Cowboys, who do not have to let them leave even if the new jobs represent promotions.
