Braves | Juan Uribe to Atlanta is official |
Wed, 27 May 2015 13:53:03 -0700
The Atlanta Braves officially acquired 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas Wednesday, May 27.
Fantasy Tip: Uribe ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) projects to split third base duties with Chris Johnson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap), and until one of them significantly out performs the other, it'll likely remain a platoon. Niether player offers FantasyScore owners a lot of upside, at this point, and they're low-end third base options in NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Alberto Callaspo to Dodgers finalized |
Wed, 27 May 2015 13:35:03 -0700
The Los Angeles Dodgers officially acquired 3B Alberto Callaspo, SP Eric Stults and RP Ian Thomas from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for 3B Juan Uribe and RP Chris Withrow Wednesday, May 27.
Fantasy Tip: Over his last 574 plate appearances, Callaspo ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is sporting an uninspiring .219/.291/.282 slash line, so his fantasy value is minimal. However, his arrival in Los Angeles continues the third base playing time battle. Justin Turner ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has hit a 9-for-38 skid since May 5, and at that time he was sporting an unsustianably high 1.064 OPS for the season. Alex Guerrero ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) cannot gain any traction on consistent playing time, but has a .313/.348/.687 slash line through 89 plate appearances this season. Guerrero has the best bat, but his defense at third base is holding him back. FantasyScore players should be careful with Callaspo and Turner until they bounce back at the dish. Guerrero is always in play for daily lineups when starting, though.

Dodgers | LAD to get pitching in trade |
Tue, 26 May 2015 19:04:35 -0700
The Los Angeles Dodgers will receive major-league pitching in the deal that will send 3B Juan Uribe to the Atlanta Braves for 3B Alberto Callaspo Tuesday, May 26. SP Trevor Cahill and/or SP Eric Stults are likely involved.
Fantasy Tip: Neither pitcher has been impressive this season but with increased opportunities for wins in Los Angeles, they could hold FantasyScore value when facing a good matchup.

Braves | Eric Stults a late-notice starter |
Fri, 22 May 2015 13:10:03 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults is starting against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, May 22, after SP Alex Wood (illness) was scratched due to a stomach virus.
Fantasy Tip: Stults ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has a 1-4 record with a 5.36 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 5.6 K/9 over 40 1/3 innings and seven starts this season. FantasyScore players should aim higher Friday, especially with the number quality options available in the starting pitcher player pool.

Braves | Alex Wood scratched vs. Brewers |
Fri, 22 May 2015 13:05:12 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Alex Wood (illness) was scratched from his start against the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, May 22, due to a stomach virus. SP Eric Stults will start for Atlanta Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Wood ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday, especially daily contests. Check back for updates on when he'll make his next start. Stults ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore players Friday. He is currently sporting a 5.36 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP and a 5.6 K/9.

Braves | Eric Stults going to bullpen |
Sun, 17 May 2015 08:26:02 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults is being moved to the bullpen. SP Williams Perez will start Wednesday, May 20, against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fantasy Tip: Perez has allowed four walks and four earned runs in two and a third innings out of the Braves bullpen so far this season. Perez owned a 1.33 ERA through five starts at Class AAA, but FantasyScore owners should wait for some success at the major league level.

Braves | Eric Stults good against Mets |
Wed, 22 Apr 2015 13:41:24 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults is 3-1 with a 2.87 ERA in seven career appearances against the New York Mets, and he allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings against the Mets in a win on April 10. Stults is 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA and has allowed three home runs in his first two starts of the year. He was tied for fifth most in 2014 with 25 home runs allowed.
Fantasy Tip: Don't let those stats against the Mets fool you into thinking Stults ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a worthwhile play at FantasyScore this evening. The Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball, despite an injury-depleted lineup.

Braves | Eric Stults likely No. 5 |
Fri, 03 Apr 2015 09:37:55 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults has likely won the fifth starter spot after the team released SP Wandy Rodriguez Friday, April 3.
Fantasy Tip: Stults has very marginal fantasy value, but the 35-year-old lefty could have upside in ripe matchups on FantasyScore.

Braves | Eric Stults fighting for rotation job |
Fri, 20 Mar 2015 20:53:05 -0700
Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults appears to be in a three-man race for the final rotation job with Ps Mike Foltynewicz and Cody Martin.
Fantasy Tip: Stults would obviously have much more value to FantasyScore owners as a starter, and he could have a leg up since he is the only lefty of the three pitchers. If the team decides they want another left-handed starter, Stults could be in good shape.

Braves | Mike Minor to see specialist |
Thu, 05 Mar 2015 11:06:10 -0800
Atlanta Braves SP Mike Minor (shoulder) will be shut down indefinitely and will visit with a specialist in the next few days, according president of baseball operations John Hart. The team is taking a proactive approach, and they're hoping it's not a season-ending injury. Hart also said Minor might have another MRI exam on his shoulder. SPs Eric Stults, Wandy Rodriguez, Mike Foltynewicz and Manny Banuelos are competing for the fifth rotation spot, but if Minor isn't ready to start the season, the Braves could go with two of those pitchers in the rotation.
Fantasy Tip: The Braves are definitely hoping this injury is minor. But after Minor's frustrating 2014 season in which he dealt with plenty of shoulder woes, this can't be a good sign early in spring. Minor was considered a sleeper candidate before this news after being just a year removed from a 13-9 season in which he posted an ERA of 3.21 and a K/9 of 8.0 in 32 starts. Minor might still be worth a late-round stab in mixed leagues, but definitely keep an eye on the results of his shoulder tests.
