The Miami Marlins have announced that 22 players, including 11 organizational players, have received invitations to major league spring training camp. Ps Jose Alvarez, Robert Delaney, Chad Gaudin, Gary Glover, Chad James, Corey Madden, J.D. Martin, Rob Rasmussen, Robert Ray, Alejandro Ramos and Elih Villanueva, Cs Jake Jefferies, Luke Montz, Clint Sammons and Kyle Skipworth, INFs Nick Green, Donovan Solano, Terry Tiffee and Gil Velazquez and OFs Kyle Jensen and Aaron Rowand will participate in camp.

The Florida Marlins signed free-agent OF Dewayne Wise (Blue Jays), 2B Joe Thurston (Braves), C Clint Sammons (Braves) and 1B Jamie D'Antona (Japanese League) to minor league deals Wednesday, Jan. 12, according to MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez and Joe Frisaro.

Carroll Rogers, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Braves 2B Brooks Conrad has won the final spot on the team's bench over 2B Joe Thurston. Conrad can play second base and third base. Thurston, C Clint Sammons, 1B Freddie Freeman, SS Brandon Hicks, P Jeffrey Lyman, OF Matt Young and P Cory Gearrin were all assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Sports Network reports the Atlanta Braves agreed to terms with OF Gregor Blanco, C Clint Sammons, P Jonny Venters, RP Jo-Jo Reyes, P Todd Redmond, P James Parr, P Jeffrey Lyman, P Kyle Cofield, P Jesse Chavez and RP Manny Acosta on one-year deals Wednesday, Feb. 24. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The Associated Press reports the Atlanta Braves placed C Brian McCann (eye) on the 15-day disabled list due to an infected left eye. The move is retroactive to Thursday, April 23, and the team has recalled C Clint Sammons from Triple-A Gwinnett.
