Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers, offensive line coach Pat Morris and assistant offensive line coach Jim Hueber were fired Wednesday, Jan. 5, according to NFL.com. Linebackers coach Fred Pagac could be promoted to defensive coordinator. Running backs coach Eric Bieniemy is leaving to coach in college football.

According to sources, it's possible there could be some disagreement, however strong or mild, between head coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jerry Angelo as to how to proceed. Sources have said Mike Martz has been Smith's top choice from the start. However, Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers remains a strong candidate after an impressive interview.

Judd Zulgad, of the Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress has thought about giving up play-calling duties. During an appearance on KFAN Friday, March 23, a listener asked Childress if there are any plans to hand over play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. Childress said, "We're always in a dialogue, the offensive staff and I, and that's not something I've completely excluded from my thinking right now. But I think as we get a little bit closer [to the season] it will define itself." Quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers is another candidate to call plays.

Rogers, who has been a college coach for 27 years, never has coached in the NFL.
