Dolphins | Jay Cutler unlikely to return

Wed, 03 Jan 2018 22:48:05 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler is not expected to be back with the team in 2018, according to head coach Adam Gase.

Fantasy Tip: Assuming Ryan Tannehill will be fully recovered it's no surprise that Cutler would move on; whether that's to another club or the broadcast booth is less clear. Given his uneven performance in South Beach, however, Cutler is unlikely to resonate with fantasy owners no matter where he ends up.

Dolphins | David Fales could play in Week 17

Sat, 30 Dec 2017 07:54:01 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB David Fales could get some playing time in Week 17's game against the Buffalo Bills, although QB Jay Cutler will start the game, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: The 27-year-old Fales received first-team repetitions in practice during the week and the Dolphins would like to give him playing time in the regular-season finale to determine if he would make a viable backup quarterback option for Ryan Tannehill in 2018. However, Gase still wants to win the game, so Fales might not see the field if the contest remains close. Cutler should be viewed as a low-end QB2 for Week 17, while Fales does not have any fantasy value.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler open to continuing career

Wed, 27 Dec 2017 18:06:26 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler said he is open to playing again in 2018 but will only continue his playing career if he is a starting quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler has thrown for 2,660 yards so far this season with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He could receive some interest from teams looking for a starting quarterback this offseason, but he would not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler throws for 286 yards, TD

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 17:35:35 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler completed 19 of his 38 pass attempts for 286 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 16 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler is fizzling down the stretch, posting just one touchdown and three interceptions over his past two outings. He'll wrap up the regular season as a low-end QB2 heading into Week 17.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler quiet about future

Thu, 21 Dec 2017 19:26:54 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler is unlikely to be back with the team in 2018, according to James Walker of ESPN.com, and Cutler said he hasn't thought about whether he is open to signing with another team when he becomes a free agent this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: In typical Cutler fashion, solid outings have been sprinkled in between some ugly ones this year. There are certainly teams that could use him as a starter, but if he does play in 2018, he will be a fantasy backup no matter where he signs.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler tosses three interceptions

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 16:57:11 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler completed 28 of his 49 pass attempts for 274 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler's yardage total was nice, but the interceptions were not good. He also fumbled four times, but was able to recover each. He isn't a recommended fantasy option heading into Week 16 at Kansas City.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler on a touchdown streak

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 21:12:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler has thrown multiple touchdown passes in each of his last six full games.

Fantasy Tip: Cutler has been a serviceable QB2 over his last six games, but he has topped 250 yards just twice in that same span and could have to deal with poor weather when he faces the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 15. He isn't worth starting this weekend.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler shines in MNF win over Pats

Mon, 11 Dec 2017 20:56:48 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler completed 25-of-38 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns in the team's Week 14 win Monday, Dec. 11, against the New England Patriots. He also added four rushing yards on four carries.

Fantasy Tip: Wow. In one of the biggest upsets of the season, Cutler looked terrific and in the process, he's vaulted himself onto the streaming map for QB-needy owners that remain in the fantasy playoffs. While this type of performance certainly can't be expected from the 12-year veteran, he can still be useful in deep formats, especially for those in leagues that utilize two quarterbacks.

Dolphins | Jay Cutler ready to go

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 09:11:04 -0800

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (concussion) is no longer in the league's concussion protocol and will start Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: It's good news for DeVante Parker owners moving forward, but the Dolphins aren't playing well enough on offense right now to feel confident to trust anyone in fantasy outside of Jarvis Landry, and that might be a stretch as well this week considering how often he'll likely do battle with Chris Harris Jr. Although the Broncos have fallen off defensively this year, they are still a tough matchup for a struggling offense. Owners are probably better off avoiding this game for fantasy purposes.
