Correcting an earlier item, MLB.com's Ken Daley reports the Texas Rangers signed minor league free agent P Carlos Perez (Orioles) to an undisclosed deal Tuesday, Dec. 11. The 25-year-old left-hander divided the 2007 season between Class A Frederick and Double-A Bowie in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

Updating a previous item, Daily Southtown's Jeff Vorva reports Chicago Cubs P Carlos Perez, who was acquired along with another minor leaguer from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for OF Corey Patterson, is a 23-year-old left-hander who spent the 2005 season playing with Class A Delmarva. He went 11-8 in 27 starts while fanning 146 hitters and walking 61 in 151.3 innings. He's gone 25-27 with a 3.70 ERA over his minor league career.
