He was the only quarterback there in a group of about 30 players. Jacobs, projected to be in the second tier of quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft April 29 and 30, said he has no other visits planned and that the Dolphins were the only team to invite him for a semi-private audition. "I'm surprised, but some people don't even get workouts at all,'' he said. "I'm working out at Atlantic High and waiting around. I hope I get a call for another visit, but until then I'll wait around until draft day.''

Sun, 26 Feb 2006 20:47:02 -0800 Harvey Fialkov, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs ran his 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds at the NFL Combine. Jacobs, who was measured at a shade less than 6 feet 4, had an impressive 32 1/2-inch vertical jump and hit 10 out of 12 passes in throwing drills, including both long post patterns. "For such an unorthodox push delivery, he delivered it real well today, highly accurate," said NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock, one of the few media members allowed to watch the drills. "He had a little more juice on the ball and a better touch on the deep balls than I expected."

It was one reason why Jacobs did not receive any scholarships from a major Division I school. St. Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan thinks the doubts of his delivery are overrated. Linehan said, "That throwing motion thing is way overrated. I think your anticipation and your ability to get the ball in the receiver's hands is the key more so than the motion. He's a proven player and I think he's a guy who can go help whoever takes him and be very effective. He's proven it."
