Allen Wilson, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills rookie WR Martin Nance his hoping his size (6-foot-4 and 213 pounds) will help him make the team's final roster. "I definitely think my height can help me and I think I can bring a different element to the receiving corps," Nance said following an offseason practice Thursday, June 8. "I'm excited about that." Despite his prolific numbers in college, he went undrafted, but the Bills signed him quickly. "Because we didn't draft any receivers, I wanted to get some taller guys in here to work with them and see what different things we could do with them in our package with the new offense we're running," said Bills receivers coach Tyke Tolbert, who added that 6-3-plus undrafted rookie WR Chris Denney was brought in for the same reason. Tolbert said Nance has shown improvement every day since he arrived, but Nance indicated that he's still a work in progress.

Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills rookie free agent WR Martin Nance is hoping to make the team's final roster. Nance was surprised he went undrafted. "Some people may have thought he was slow to return from injury," said Bills coordinator of college scouting Doug Majeski. "But he's a big receiver with good speed and deep ball skills. He's a very good free agent." In observing him during the OTAs Bills wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert was curious to see how such a tall, long striding receiver could run. Being as tall and long as he is Nance can provide a team with a number of options in the passing game. The wide receiver feels his greatest assets are his ability to stretch the field and make plays in the red zone. One thing Nance will have to work on is his transition in and out of his cuts. Tolbert knows for a player as long legged as Nance it will take more concentration. Tolbert is withholding judgment on Nance until he sees him in pads at training camp.

The Steelers might lose WR Antwaan Randle El to free agency, which could cause the team to look at wide receiver in the draft.
