Brent Schrotenboer, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports free-agent FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo (Bears) filed a suit Friday, March 7, against a Nevada supplement company and local distributor. Ayanbadejo tested positive for steroid substances in 2007, leading to his release by the Chicago Bears. He claims he took the supplements but was not aware that the supplements contained a banned substance.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo is eligible to come off the suspended list Monday, Oct. 1. According to the NFLPA, the team can receive a one-week exemption for Ayanbadejo, who is coming back from a four-game suspension for violation of the league's policy on steroids and related substances. The exemption would allow for the team to decide what they want to do with Ayanbadejo, and whether or not they will cut a player to make room for him on the 53-man roster. It is not know whether or not the Bears plan on adding him back.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo will be suspended for the first four games of the NFL regular season for failing a drug test. Ayanbadejo was informed Tuesday, Aug. 7, that he lost an appeal to the league for having an anti-estrogen component in his system during a random drug test back in January while he was a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Ayanbadejo said he plans to pursue legal action against the maker of Max LMG, as he believes it was not properly labeled and led to his positive test. "What was in my system was not a steroid," he said. "There's a difference between an anabolic steroid and an anti-estrogen component. But the league considers that a related substance. I took a supplement that had an anti-estrogen component and I did not know it was contained in the supplement."

Hargrave was Ayanbadejo's running backs coach when both were with the Minnesota Vikings in 1997. "I credit Carl for a lot of the basic skills and foundation I have because he told me to learn everything and they'd figure out where I really fit later," Ayanbadejo said. "That roster was stacked with 53 guys who could play so for me to make it I had to be able to do it all and be good at it all. I think I've just kept it like that throughout my career and I'm very comfortable with what needs to be done."
