Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys RB Demetrius Summers struggled in pass-blocking drills Monday, July 31. He missed on two attempts and was thrown out of the drill by running backs coach Anthony Lynn.

Cowboys | Parcells calls Summers day-to-day

In his post minicamp news conference Friday, June 2, Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said rookie free agent RB Demetrius Summers was day-to-day. Parcells said he felt that Summers understood that after the two talked. Parcells was upset Summers showed up later to work Thursday, June 1, his first official day with the team.

FoxSports.com reports the Dallas Cowboys have not signed undrafted rookie free agent RB Demetrius Summers (South Carolina) but they did like what the saw from him in the rookie minicamp, so much so that they are inviting him back to the veteran minicamp June 2-4 for another tryout.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports South Carolina RB Demetrius Summers measured a height of 5-11 1/4 and a weight of 214 pounds at his Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash with times of 4.64 seconds and 4.68 seconds while finishing the short shuttle in 4.35 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.03 seconds. He measured a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-10 broad jump while completing 20 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press. Summers was kicked off the team for breaking team rules, but the school invited him to work out on campus on the team's Pro Day.

NCAA | Summers getting ready for Pro Day

Pete Iacobelli, of the Associated Press, reports former South Carolina RB Demetris Summers will audition for at least 15 pro teams next week, according to his adviser Kevin Parker. He's written to all NFL teams, admitting he twice tested positive for marijuana. He offered no excuses, telling them, "Getting involved in marijuana was the worst mistake of my life." Summers undergoes another drug test later this week prior to working out for the NFL scouts. He is on a nutrition program. He sleep patterns are tracked. He works out five or six days a week, but sessions are targeted for specific goals like strength, agility and stamina. He hopes to hear his name called in April's NFL Draft, but he will gladly go the free-agent route and prove himself.
