|Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew on the bubble?|
Wed, 25 Feb 2015 13:17:08 -0800
Fantasy Tip: The days of Jones-Drew being an RB1 are over. If he is cut and finds a new team, he'll likely be no more than a complementary running back. If he stays, he'll probably back up Latavius Murray. Murray has RB2 potential if he starts in Oakland's backfield.

|Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew needs to stay in shape|
Fri, 13 Feb 2015 15:25:44 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew was hampered by injuries this past season and rushed for only 96 yards. Jones-Drew likely will not be the starting running back if he remains with the Raiders and probably will not be an option in fantasy drafts next season.

|Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew hopes to return|
Wed, 07 Jan 2015 09:03:45 -0800
Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew said he hopes to return to the team next season even though he wished he would have received more work this season. Jones-Drew finished the season with 98 yards on 43 carries. The Raiders would save $2.5 million in salary cap space if they released Jones-Drew.
Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew never was the main running back this season and only averaged 2.2 yards per carry when he was on the field. There is a good chance he is cut this offseason, but he probably will not be able to find a starting job. Jones-Drew probably will be a late-round flier at best in 2015 fantasy drafts.

|Raiders | Raiders excited about Latavius Murray|
Fri, 05 Dec 2014 09:29:29 -0800
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 112 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team is excited about what he can provide them down the stretch. "I love the way Latavius runs the football," interim head coach Tony Sparano said. "I like what I've seen, but I've seen (14) carries. I want to see more of them. I'm curious, too. I'm curious just like the fans are curious." Despite Sparano's curiosity, he stated that Murray won't immediately be a workhorse back in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers. It's likely that RBs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew will see significant touches this weekend, but Murray will likely have an increased workload than what he's seen in the past.
Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for those itching to use Murray ($4,800) at FantasyScore, this probably isn't the week to do it. McFadden ($3,800) should continue to see most of the work, but if he's sharing touches in what now may be a three-headed monster, we don't recommend him for daily lineups.

|Raiders | Latavius Murray to be more involved?|
Mon, 17 Nov 2014 14:21:54 -0800
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had four carries for 43 yards in the team's Week 11 loss to the San Diego Chargers, and his 23-yard run late in the third quarter was the team's longest rushing gain for a running back of the season. "They've been wanting to get me in the mix more and that's all I can ask," Murray said. "When they do, I have to make sure they give me a reason to put me back in there." Murray is a much bigger back than either RBs Darren McFadden or Maurice Jones-Drew, and he runs with an upright style. Oakland finished with 71 yards on 19 carries, which was their highest rushing output since Oct. 12 in their first matchup with the Chargers.
Fantasy Tip: At this point in the Raiders' winless season, they just might be motivated to make a drastic change in the backfield in hopes of better results. Murray will continue to be cheap at FantasyScore if you're feeling very bold in Week 12.

|Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew set for more touches?|
Fri, 24 Oct 2014 10:09:39 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew had a season-high nine carries in Week 1, but since then, he hasn't had more than four carries in a game with Darren McFadden ascending to the lead-back role. The Raiders would like to get the running game going to help rookie Derek Carr, and this weekend against the Cleveland Browns is the perfect time. Jones-Drew ($4,100) is weak flex play, though.

|Raiders | Bigger role coming for MJD?|
Sat, 11 Oct 2014 18:10:15 -0700
Oakland Radiers RB Maurice Jones-Drew has just 11 carries for 12 yards in two games this season, but interim head coach Tony Sparano said he wants him to share the load with RB Darren McFadden. "I'd like Maurice to take a little bit greater role, maybe get some snaps off of Darren," Sparano said. "If we could, keep them both fresh that way, but we also have got to be running the football and doing some things that way too."
Fantasy Tip: It looks like Jones-Drew will be eating into Darren McFadden's carries with Sporano taking over, and the situation is worth watching going forward. However, neither back is a great option at FantasyScore in Week 6 against the ninth-ranked run defense of the San Diego Chargers.

|Raiders | Darren McFadden goes distance|
Sun, 28 Sep 2014 20:37:10 -0700
Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden carried 11 times for 40 yards in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins in London, while RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) carried twice for just one yard. McFadden also had four receptions for 32 yards, while Jones-Drew had two catches for only two yards.
Fantasy Tip: McFadden received a majority of the touches in the Oakland backfield before the team mostly abandoned the run with a lopsided score in the second half. For now, McFadden has more fantasy appeal between the two backs.

|Raiders | Maurice Jones-Drew very limited|
Sun, 28 Sep 2014 20:36:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Jones-Drew was a non-factor, and the team went away from the run with the game out of hand. He was unable to get into a rhythm, but he will now have two more weeks to rest with the bye in Week 5. He should work his way into a split in carries with Darren McFadden, but wait to see that actually play out before plugging him back into the active fantasy lineup.
