Hall has been working with a bio-mechanical specialist this offseason to regain strength in his abdominal muscles. He hopes to be able to kick again by March.

Tue, 10 Oct 2006 08:34:33 -0700 Howard Bryant, of the Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall (thigh/groin) is suffering from a strained groin and thigh and head coach Joe Gibbs believes Hall's struggles are a result of the injuries. "We definitely have to do something about this," Gibbs said. "It seemed to act up on John and I thought he was compensating." Hall missed one of two field goal tries during Week 5 and the club is auditioning several kickers Tuesday, Oct. 10, to potentially replace Hall.
Mon, 09 Oct 2006 14:08:06 -0700 Citing league and team sources, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall is in jeopardy of losing his job. The Redskins are prepared to audition several replacements Tuesday, Oct. 10, at their facility. The potential replacements for Hall are expected to include PKs Todd Peterson (Falcons) and Nick Novak (Cardinals).
Sat, 02 Sep 2006 09:01:23 -0700 The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall will handle the kicking duties despite a rough preseason. "John's our guy," head coach Joe Gibbs said. "We've got a seasoned, veteran guy there."
Sun, 13 Aug 2006 23:14:59 -0700 Howard Bryant, of the Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall will likely not do much beyond field goals, according to head coach Joe Gibbs. That will leave P Derrick Frost and P David Lonie to compete for the punting job and for kickoffs. Gibbs said, "I think John has had real good work. As a matter of fact, he's healthy. I think our thing with John is to keep him from overworking. I feel real comfortable with a veteran guy like that around."
Sun, 06 Aug 2006 09:09:00 -0700 Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall struggled during the 11-on-11 portion of the scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 5. Hall missed two field goals, causing special teams coach Danny Smith to say, "One for three ain't good enough. But John, I love him. He'll be a great kicker and he's been a great kicker." Hall missed from 46 yards and 47 yards, but was able to connect on a 37-yard field goal.
Mon, 19 Jun 2006 05:35:10 -0700 Ryan O'Halloran, of the Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins PK John Hall is hoping surgery in January has him on the right track to a healthy 2006 season. Hall felt his problem was more complex than a quadriceps or groin injury and an evaluation late last season confirmed Hall's suspicions. Hall's surgery repaired muscles that were detached from his pelvis and another muscle he said was "frayed like a rope." Because of those injuries, Hall was overcompensating on his right side, which was a likely source of his hamstring (2004) and quadriceps (2005) ailments. Hall did little kicking during the minicamp, which was by design. During traning camp, Hall will be challenged for his job by PK Tyler Jones. Asked if Hall would have to be markedly outperformed because he's the incumbent, special teams coach Danny Smith said: "Once they're on the field, it's competition and it doesn't really matter where they've come from, who they are or what their credentials are. We'll keep the best guy, period."
