Fantasy Tip: Good news for Davis' fantasy prospects, as contract hurdles won't deter his preparation and status with San Francisco. He is a top-5 fantasy TE.

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis' holdout for a new contract should not be impacted by Jimmy Graham being ruled as a tight end, according to a source. Davis lined up as a tight end more than a wide receiver in 2013 and has freely admitted that he is a tight end. The 49ers don't appear inclined to give Davis a new deal. He is currently the third-highest paid tight end. San Francisco veterans report to training camp July 24.

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis is indeed absent for the first day of the team's mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 17, according to a league source. Davis is holding out for a new contract. Davis also skipped the team's voluntary organized team activities earlier this month.
Fantasy Tip: Davis' absence won't have an impact on his fantasy value in 2014, but it will allow Vance McDonald and Brent Celek to receive valuable repetitions with the first unit. Davis remains a top-tier tight end.

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis admitted he's holding out for a new contract because he believes he is outplaying his current deal. "It's all about getting paid what you deserve," Davis said. "It's not that complicated. I want the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, and I want to be on the field this summer working towards that goal, but I have to worry about my future first."

San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis will not fully commit to attend the team's mandatory minicamp that will run from June 17-19. "If it's mandatory, I think I should be there," Davis said. "My foot could get stuck in the grass, and I may not be able to get out ... but if it's mandatory, I think I should be there." Davis is seeking a new contract.
Fantasy Tip: It just got a little trickier for the Niners to lock up Davis after they extended Colin Kaepernick for another six years, including $61 million in guarantees. Davis' situation won't affect his standing as a top-tier tight end.
