The Associated Press reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the contracts of assistant quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, assistant defensive backs coach Doug Plank, special teams assistant Kevin O'Dea, pass rush specialist Chuck Smith and defensive quality control coach Brian Smith will not be renewed.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the New York Jets hired Chicago Bears assistant special teams coach Kevin O'Dea to be the Jets special teams coach, replacing Mike Wetshoff, who took a leave of absence due to medical reasons. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ChicagoBears.com reports the Chicago Bears have hired Kevin O'Dea as their new assistant special teams coach. He replaces Charlie Coiner, who left to become linebackers coach on Dick Jauron's staff with the Buffalo Bills. O'Dea worked for the Arizona Cardinals in 2004 and 2005.
