Sun, 04 Mar 2012 19:35:50 -0800 Arizona Cardinals OT Levi J. Brown is likely to become an unrestricted free agent, as the team and Brown's representatives were unable to negotiate a new deal, according to a league source. Brown has one year left on his deal, but will count $17 million against the team's salary cap. Efforts to re-negotiate his contract haven't been fruitful, and the team would release Brown without a new deal.

Though he showed improvement in the second half of the 2011 season, the team might be inclined to let him go and gamble that they can find a suitable replacement. The team might have to draft a replacement, as there aren't many optioned available in this year's free-agent class. If the team brings him back, they might try to re-sign him at a reasonable number, although it's uncertain if Brown would be open to that and if he is willing to return to the team.
