The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Kellen Clemens, CB Drew Coleman, WR Braylon Edwards, DT Howard Green, OT Wayne Hunter, WR Brad Smith, S Eric Smith and RB Leon Washington could be restricted free agents this offseason if 2010 is an uncapped year.

"I'm not at the point yet where I want to say I'm just a career backup and that's all I want to do. I believe that I have the ability to play and play well. So we'll see. There's a lot of stuff that's really out of my control now," Clemens said.

Randy Lange, of NewYorkJets.com, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said he is not ready to name the starting quarterback for the team's Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Ryan said QB Mark Sanchez (knee) took 75 percent of the repetitions with the first-team offense in practice Thursday, Dec. 17. QB Kellen Clemens took 25 percent of the repetitions. Ryan said Sanchez looked more comfortable in practice Thursday.

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Dec. 16, and was splitting first-team repetitions with QB Kellen Clemens. Sanchez was moving briskly and showed no signs of his PCL sprain in his right knee. However, he was wearing a brace. Sanchez is likely to return as the starter in Week 15 after looking comfortable on his knee in practice Wednesday.

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was asked during his press conference Wednesday, Dec. 9, if QB Mark Sanchez (knee) would be available to play Week 14. Ryan said, "I'm going to shut him down completely, and then that will keep him here. He'll get three days of treatment." Ryan has already named QB Kellen Clemens the starter for Week 14.
