Andy Martino, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets QB Kellen Clemens (ankle, leg) went 8-for-22 for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Green and White scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 2. Clemens' team lost to QB Chad Pennington's team 10-7. Clemens appeared to be limping during the fourth quarter of the game and had a wrap around his left ankle and lower leg after the game. He threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to TE Dustin Keller.

Erik Boland, of Newsday, reports New York Jets QB Chad Pennington said he feels as if the deck might be stacked against him in his competition with QB Kellen Clemens for the team's starting quarterback job. Theoretically, the team would like to see Clemens, 24, beat out Pennington, 32, for the job because of the age difference and to also validate the selection of Clemens as a second-round pick in 2006. "I've thought about that and weighed all the different scenarios," Pennington said. "But really, it just doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if I feel that it's stacked against me or not. All I can do is go out here and practice and play well and put as much good stuff on film as I can and then let them make the decision."

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini said QB Kellen Clemens is off to a rough start in training camp. Clemens has thrown an interception every day thus far. "You never want to see mistakes. You spend a long time working on making sure there aren't mistakes. But there's been many mistakes," Mangini said Sunday, July 27. "The one mistake you can't have is you can't turn the ball over. Running backs can't fumble. Receivers can't fumble. Quarterbacks need to make good decisions. It's the risk-reward we talk about. That makes me even more annoyed."

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets QB Chad Pennington said general manager Mike Tannenbaum told him that the Jets received a call from the Green Bay Packers regarding QB Brett Favre. Tannenbaum had a similar conversation with QB Kellen Clemens. Tannenbaum would not confirm or deny the reports of speaking with his quarterbacks about Favre or even receiving a call from the Packers.
