AzCardinals.com reports the team held try outs for punters Rick Barrow, who was with the Cardinals for part of training camp this year, Chad Stanley, and Daniel Pope earlier today. They need to sign a punter to replace injured P Scott Player (ankle). They also worked out TEs Steve Bush, Lawrence Hart, and Ryan Neufeld.

John Clayton reports for ESPN in addition to signing rookie free agent P Dan Hadenfieldt to the practice squad, the New England Patriots also had veteran P Ken Walter stay overnight Tuesday in case Hadenfieldt doesn't look great in early practices. The team checked out at P Daniel Pope, but sent him home. They had P Chad Stanley drive to the airport to make a flight to their facility but called him before the flight to cancel. The team is seeking a replacement for the released Lee Johnson.

Rich Cimini reports for the NY Daily News the New York Jets may indeed be looking to add another punter before next Monday's game. Current P Tom Tupa had a bad game last Sunday. According to sources, the punters the Jets are focusing on are Daniel Pope, Chad Stanley and Ken Walter. Pope, who punted last season for the Bengals, worked out Tuesday for the Jets. Stanley and Walter, formerly of the 49ers and Panthers, respectively will audition today for the team. Tommy Parks, who punted week one for the Jets, is not being considered. GM Terry Bradway indicated Tuesday that "there's a chance we might" sign a punter by the end of the week.

Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson reports the Bengals made more roster cuts today and the list contained a few surprises. S/KR Tremain Mack and P Daniel Pope were two of the cuts. The team placed rookie TE Sean Brewer on the injured reserve list. WR Damon Griffin was also placed on IR with a minor injury. The team officially re-signed QB Scott Covington when the team was forced to carry four QBs due to Scott Mitchell's injury. Also released were FB Clif Groce and DE Kevin Henry. WR Malcolm Johnson, C Roger Roesler and DE Corey Moore joined the list of released players. Rookie free agents who have practice squad eligibility that were cut were TE Kirk McMullen, DT Jeff Boyle, and LBs Rashad Harris and Chris Edmonds.

The Cincinnati Post reports the contract signed by Cincinnati Bengals P Daniel Pope yesterday was his one-year, $389,000 tender offer. Bengals director of pro/college personnel Jim Lippincott said the Bengals may bring another punter, or two, to compete with Pope in the pre-season. LB Adrian Ross wants to re-sign with the team. He was tendered a one-year contract worth $512,000.
