Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester worked with the second-team kickoff and punt coverage teams during the team's offseason workout Wednesday, April 17. Special teams coach Joe DeCamillis said the team is looking into the possibility of expanding Hester's role on special teams.

Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester did not work with the wide receivers Tuesday, April 16, during the first day of the team's voluntary minicamp. Instead, he worked all special teams plays, including kicks and punt returns. "I love it, man," Hester said after practice. Head coach Marc Trestman said Hester will focus on being the team's return man.
Fantasy Tip: With this news, Hester won't be fantasy-relevant in 2013, unless your league awards individual points for return yards and scores.

Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester said he has no plans to retire at this time; however, he may need a change of scenery in the offseason. Hester felt totally ignored on offense, at times. His frustration mounted and he lacked focus as his touches faded both during games and in practice. "I'm not making any excuses. I know some of the plays I should have made in terms of catching the ball. But I just wasn't feeling it. My mind wasn't there the majority of the time," Hester said. In terms of seeking a trade, Hester said, "It's a possibility. I'm loyal to my team. But the fans and my teammates have to understand where I'm coming from."

The Bears seem intent on implementing a "Hester package" on offense that could necessitate limiting Hester's special teams workload. "I think every now and then, I'm going to do kickoffs," said Hester, who still is expected to handle most punt returns. "It will depend on how the game is going. If I'm involved in the offense the whole first and second quarters, maybe I'll tell them to cut back on the kickoff returns. If I'm not getting that many touches on offense, of course I'm going to want to get some more touches on kickoff returns. That's how I see things panning out."
