Thu, 25 Oct 2007 21:58:20 -0700 Updating previous items, the Associated Press reports former RP Jeff Reardon was released from court supervision Thursday, Oct. 25, a year after he was found not guilty by reason of insanity for robbing a jewelry store. According to Reardon's attorney, the former player "is doing well, he is normal and he's overcome a lot of the depression."
Tue, 29 Aug 2006 08:32:18 -0700 ESPN.com reports former All-Star RP Jeff Reardon was found not guilty by insanity Monday, Aug. 28, for robbing a jewelry store in December 2005. Two court-appointed psychiatrists testified that Reardon was under the influence of a dozen prescription medications at the time, which he was taking to help him get over the 2004 death of his son. They also testified that there was no possible explanation for the robbery.
Tue, 27 Dec 2005 09:37:09 -0800 The Associated Press reports former MLB RP Jeff Reardon, 50, was arrested and charged with robbery at a jewelry store. Reardon blamed it on medication for depression. Police said Reardon walked into Hamilton Jewelers at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Monday and handed an employee a note saying he had a gun and the store was being robbed. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police found him at a nearby restaurant, recovered the stolen money and charged him with armed robbery. Lt. David O'Neill said Reardon did not have a gun and offered no resistance when he was handcuffed.
