Jean-Jacques Taylor, writing for the Sporting News, reports Dallas Cowboys signed OT Jason Fabini to a three-year deal during the offseason, but they really want him to be a key backup, not a starter. Fabini would give them a solid backup at left and right tackle and provide much more insurance if OT Flozell Adams were to miss a game for injury this year than they had in 2005.

Todd Archer, of the Dallas Morning News, reports Dallas Cowboys OT Rob Petitti will head to training camp in July hoping to hold on to his starting right tackle job. He will be challenged by OTs Jason Fabini and Marc Colombo. Petitti ran with the first team during minicamp and enters training camp as the leader. "I think I'm a lot different player," Petitti said. "Obviously, physically I've gotten stronger and mentally, that's the biggest part. I'm not thinking out there. I feel like I know what I'm doing." Petitti learned under fire last year, and it will make him better this year. "I've still got to learn the tricks, I guess," Petitti said. "But the more technique you get down, the easier things become."

Chad Peters, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells discussed the team's right offensive line during his press conference. When talking about OT Jason Fabini, Parcells said, "I don't think Fabini would give up 15 sacks if I put him in there and turned him around backwards." Parcells also said OT Rob Petitti should be improved for the 2006 season due to better conditioning that he had at this point last season. He added OT Marc Colombo is showing a strong work ethic and is recovering physically from some health problems.
