Jets | Team Notes

Wed, 28 Feb 2001 09:40:27 -0800

The NY Daily News reports despite public banter they want to re-sign him, by offering restricted free agent QB Ray Lucas the low tender of $512,000 and no compensation it is expected other teams will pursue him in free agency. The Jets did not tender him higher because of their cap situation. "Realistically, I see him moving on," Lucas' agent, Felix Diaz said. Backup OT Jumbo Elliott could be cut loose this week in a mutual agreement with the team, and then signed back later. The Jets are still trying to sign DT Jason Ferguson before he hits the open market and negotiations continue to restrcuture CB Ray Mickens contract.
