The San Diego Chargers currently have between $10-15 million of cap space to work with this offseason. They will also likely clear the books of $10 million by waiving OT Marcus McNeill. The team is also expected to release or seek to renegotiate the contract of DL Luis A. Castillo, who is due $4.975 million in 2012. Releasing Castillo would clear all but $1.025 million of his $6 million cap number.

His contract says the team can forfeit his $10 million salary if he does not pass his physical because of a spinal injury. McNeill's agent said his client will do everything he can to get ready for next season.

San Diego Chargers OG Kris Dielman (concussion) and OT Marcus McNeill (neck) are considering retirement because they are worried about their health after football. Dielman is believed to be more serious about a possible retirement. McNeill's agent said he would be shocked if McNeill did not play again.

He is expected to start at left tackle in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings. "He's a veteran player, but it's tough not having games and full-speed practices and the experience of fighting through fatigue in those instances. We're going everythin we can to get him ready."

San Diego Chargers OT Brandyn Dombrowski will likely play the majority of the team's Week 6 game against the St. Louis Rams, with OT Marcus McNeill splitting some time at the position, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee. "I think it would be real difficult (for McNeill) to go in and play (a full game)," head coach Norv Turner said. "He's worked for three weeks. It is like having training camp and then going out and playing 60 plays your first game. That is a challenge. So, we need to evaluate that over the next couple days and have a plan for what we are going to do there."
