Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian said during a radio interview Wednesday, Oct. 26, that head coach Jim Caldwell isn't responsible for the team's struggles, and that injuries to key players are to blame for the team's 0-7 start. "How you evaluate him is what you do with what he has," Polian said. "You can't hold him responsible for injuries. You can't hold him responsible for an unforeseen surgery that no one anticipated would happen. The things that he can control, I think he's done a terrific job of, given where we are from a standpoint of personnel."

Bob Kravitz, of the Indianapolis Star, reports Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne wanted head coach Jim Caldwell to keep the starters in the game during the second half of Week 16 in hopes of achieving the perfect season. "Who wouldn't?" Reggie Wayne said. "I mean ... who wouldn't? Doesn't everybody want to be a part of history? Not a season goes by that you don't hear about the '72 Dolphins." Wayne paused, then added, "I guess there's a bigger picture. We all wanted to play, but the big dog (Caldwell) made a decision and we have to roll with that decision. We came out after halftime and felt like we were starting to roll and could score some points, but the manager took us off the mound."

The Associated Press reports Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said all of the team's healthy starters will play in the team's Week 15 game. "We're going to approach the 14th game exactly like we did one through 13. We're going to prepare just like we did for the first 13 and we're going to play just like we did the first 13," Caldwell said. "The only thing that would deter anyone from playing is a health issue." Caldwell added he does not know how long the starters may play in the game. "We're not going to assign numbers, in terms of plays, for anybody," Caldwell said. "We didn't do that for the first 13 games, and we're not going to do it for No. 14, either."

ESPN.com reports Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said Saturday, June 6, that former coaches Tom Moore and Howard Mudd will begin their roles as team consultants Aug. 1, according to the Indianapolis Star. While Moore, the former offensive coordinator, and Mudd, the former offensive line coach, won't work under those titles any more, Irsay said they will perform similar duties. "They're coming back," Irsay said. "They're coming back as consultants and they're going to be involved big time. Jim Caldwell will determine what that will be."
