Thu, 10 Apr 2014 11:00:02 -0700

"It certainly didn't blindside me," head coach Jim Caldwell said. "We certainly knew. He and I have probably had more discussions than any player that we've had on the team. He's been in-and-out. I think he was here on a couple days when I came on a visit, so we kind of knew exactly what was going on.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said he still sees "a place for the wide nine in our system," and new Lions coach Jim Caldwell said it's "necessary" to use the defensive alignment, which requires defensive ends to set up outside the tight end in order to get better angles in the pass rush. "If you've taken a look at us, when we were in Indy, did you see (Dwight) Freeney and (Robert) Mathis?" said Caldwell, the Indianapolis Colts' head coach in 2009-11. "What'd they line up in? There we go."

Ravens | Jacoby Jones could see expanded role

Fri, 31 May 2013 11:15:52 -0700

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell said WR Jacoby Jones is in great shape to have an expanded role in the offense. "He can catch and he can run," Caldwell said.

Fantasy Tip: This could be good news for Jones, especially in PPR leagues. Jones caught the ball 30 times in 2012, and if he can build on that in 2013, his fantasy value will rise. Monitor how he is used in training camp and through the preseason.

Mon, 04 Feb 2013 10:07:08 -0800

Five years in this league at that position is really nothing. This is where you start to see a lot of growth and development with these guys. I think you're going to see him even get better."

Now that Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell is running the show, the Ravens are expected to return to the no-huddle offense that was scrapped in recent weeks by former offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Caldwell worked behind the scenes to install the no-huddle offense earlier this season after he ran it prominently as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. However, Caldwell has never called plays in the NFL. "Jim has been a part of that the whole season along with the rest of the coaches. It's always a collaboration, and we'll do it together. We're looking forward to seeing how it plays out," head coach John Harbaugh said.
