The New York Jets are locked into WR Santonio Holmes for $15.25 million in guarantees. A $7.5 million guarantee (most of his 2013 salary) was triggered by his being on the roster after the second day of the waiver period, which was Tuesday, Feb. 7. Holmes already was guaranteed his 2012 salary, $7.75 million, the second year of the five-year, $45 million contract he signed last summer.

New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes is expected to remain with the team in 2012. The Jets have said publicly since the season ended they would keep Holmes. Holmes is guaranteed $7.5 million of his $11 million 2013 salary if he still is on the Jets' roster Wednesday, Feb. 8. That means the Jets owe the wide receiver $15.25 million of guaranteed money, a number that means he won't be going anywhere.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez and WR Santonio Holmes plan to meet for a quarterback-receiver retreat to clear up some issues that took place in the locker room last season. Owner Woody Johnson also plans to meet one-on-one with Sanchez over dinner next week. New York is expected to make a decision on Holmes' contract situation in the near future, too. Holmes' guaranteed money will increase from $7.75 million to $15 million Wednesday, Feb. 8. Head coach Rex Ryan said there is no chance the team releases Holmes.
