Thu, 22 Sep 2016 19:40:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 22, after being given a day off Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Williams has 237 rushing yards and 10 catches through two games, and he should be considered a RB1 in Week 3 in what will likely be his final start before Le'Veon Bell returns.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams receives day off

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 17:13:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Williams will be fine for the team's Week 3 game and will be receiving his last start before Le'Veon Bell returns. Williams has been one of the best running backs through the first two weeks of the season and should be a starter in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams does it again

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 22:28:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 32 times for 94 yards in the Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and he added four receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is filling in admirably for the suspended Le'Veon Bell, who is out at least one more week. Williams remains a low-end RB1 in all fantasy formats the way he is performing.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 15, after receiving a rest day.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams receives day off

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 14:19:17 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is receiving a rest day and should see most of the carries in Week 2 after rushing for 143 yards in the opener. He should be a starting option in all leagues even though he will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals defense.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams slices up 'Skins

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 19:54:33 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 26 times for 143 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 1 game against the Washington Redskins and he also racked up six receptions for 28 yards.

Fantasy Tip: D-Will, subbing for the suspended Le'Veon Bell, had a huge game and is a viable RB2 in all fantasy formats until Bell returns in Week 4. Don't drop Williams, though, once Bell is back, as he should still have some kind of role in the offense.

Steelers | PIT starters out second preseason game

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 08:42:56 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell, RB DeAngelo Williams and WR Antonio Brown won't play in the second preseason game Thursday, Aug. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Bell, Brown and Big Ben are all amidst the first pack in fantasy at their respective positions. D-Will is an RB3 as he'll take a backseat when Bell returns from his suspension.

Steelers | Pittsburgh to sit several players

Wed, 10 Aug 2016 11:15:00 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell, RB DeAngelo Williams, WR Antonio Brown and C Maurkice Pouncey will not play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Friday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: All of the players will be rested and should play in the next few preseason games. Brown likely will be one of the first players selected in drafts, while Bell probably will be a No. 1 running back once he returns from his suspension. Roethlisberger should also be a No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues. Williams will have increased value over the first month of the season with Bell out but should also be a flex option when Bell returns.

Steelers | Little chance Le'Veon Bell wins appeal

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 19:03:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has vowed not to miss any games due to suspension for reportedly missing several drug tests, but no sources with knowledge of the situation believe he has a strong chance to win the appeal. As such, RB DeAngelo Williams would be in line to carry the load until Bell returns.

Fantasy Tip: He is still worth drafting as an RB1, but you'll obviously either need to draft DeAngelo Williams early or have plenty of depth on hand to fill the void in the first four games if his suspension is indeed upheld. Bell is a top-notch option when he is on the field.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams feeling great

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:43:32 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) said he has recovered from the foot injury he suffered last season and is in the best shape he has been in his life.

Fantasy Tip: Williams is coming off a terrific 2015 season and should receive decent playing time as a No. 2 running back this season. He should be selected in the middle to late rounds of most fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Pittsburgh may have two RBs in backfield

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:55:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he believes there will be times that he and RB DeAngelo Williams will be on the field at the same time. "There are definitely going to be packages where me and 'D-Lo' are going to be out there at the same time," Bell said. "I'm ready for that."

Fantasy Tip: Bell will receive most of the work at running back in 2016 but Williams should see decent playing time because of his solid play last season. Bell probably would be more of a receiver if both are on the field at the game time, which would help his fantasy value. Bell should be selected in the first round, while Williams could be a middle- to late-round option in drafts.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams will be used

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 09:30:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will be used by offensive coordinator Todd Haley in 2016 despite the return of RB Le'Veon Bell from injury. "I think the difference between last year and this year is that we got a big body of work from DeAngelo last year," said Haley. "We got to see him do a lot of things, and obviously he did a very good job for us. Knowing a lot more about him will maybe help give Le'Veon more rest when he needs it, although knowing Le'Veon he never wants to come off."

Fantasy Tip: Williams proved very valuable as a waiver-wire darling last year after Bell went down with injury, so he's surely capable of being productive with fewer carries, too. However, it remains to be seen how much he'll be used, and as long as Bell is healthy, Williams' fantasy value remains low.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams cleared

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 09:42:44 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) has been fully cleared for workouts.

Fantasy Tip: With Le'Veon Bell's (knee) status murky, Williams could open the season with enhanced value again. However, he's more of an RB4 or a handcuff to Bell that doesn't figure to see a big chunk of work when Bell is healthy.

Steelers | No surgery for DeAngelo Williams

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 12:54:56 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) will not need surgery on his injured foot this offseason, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Le'Veon Bell should be healthy and ready to go this offseason, too, which means Williams would once again assume his backup role. He filled in very nicely for Bell this season, but he won't receive a lot of playing time in 2016 if Bell can stay healthy.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams ruled out

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:44:22 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) has been ruled out for the divisional game against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Williams was never really expected to play this weekend. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and Jordan Todman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) were both pretty productive in splitting the backfield duties in the wild-card round, but they face a much stiffer test this weekend. With a banged up Big Ben under center, both running backs are a tougher sell on FantasyScore.

Steelers | No practice for DeAngelo Williams

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 14:21:04 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is a long shot to play this weekend. Avoid him. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and Jordan Todman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) face a tough matchup in the Denver Broncos, but Todman is especially intriguing as a deep sleeper as a pass-catching option out of the backfield.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams absent Wednesday

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 14:31:05 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: The chances of Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) playing against the Denver Broncos are slim to none. He was put back in a walking boot this week. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and Jordan Todman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) were a formidable duo in the wild-card round and will continue to carry the load. The Broncos are a tough defense, but Todman has appeal as a contrarian pick to do damage in the passing game with Antonio Brown injured.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams back in boot

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 07:46:50 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) is back in a walking boot Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't look good for him in the divisional round. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) will be a midrange option against the Denver Broncos on FantasyScore.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams doesn't need practice

Tue, 12 Jan 2016 16:35:50 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) doesn't need to practice this week in order to play this weekend, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Williams' chances of playing against the Denver Broncos aren't looking good despite the prospect that he could still play without practicing. If Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) is sidelined again, Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,500, 9.0%) and Jordan Todman ($3,700, 7.4%) would once again take over backfield duties. Neither is a great play against Denver, but Toussaint would be the better choice if you're determined to start a Pittsburgh running back.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams may not play

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 14:47:55 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams' (ankle) chances of playing against the Denver Broncos this weekend aren't looking good, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking more and more like Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman will once again split backfield duties, but Toussaint had more touches last week and is a better FantasyScore option if you want to risk one of them versus a top notch Denver Broncos defense.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams visits foot specialist

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 13:30:38 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) visited foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson Monday, Jan. 11, but his status for the divisional playoffs remains uncertain.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Williams' status will need to be monitored throughout the week. If he can't play this weekend, Fitzgerald Toussaint and Jordan Todman would continue to split playing time in Pittsburgh's backfield, but Touissaint would be the better play if you want to risk starting a running back against the Denver Broncos.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams ruled out

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 09:21:47 -0800

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has been ruled out for the wild-card game Saturday, Jan. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) figures to see a bigger role against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he has done little to excite FantasyScore owners. Use him if you're looking for a cheap flex with some targets upside.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams not expected to play

Fri, 08 Jan 2016 09:05:06 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) isn't planning to play in the wild-card game against the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday, Jan. 9, but the Steelers haven't officially ruled him out, according to a source. Williams' status will be updated after practice Friday, Jan. 8. It was reported earlier Friday that the Steelers considered Williams to be out. Williams has been seen wearing a walking boot, but he's been walking without a limp. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley said RB Fitzgerald Toussaint will be "the guy" this weekend unless Williams can play. RB Jordan Todman would also be heavily involved.

Fantasy Tip: Ignore Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) on FantasyScore this weekend. Toussaint ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is a deep sleeper against a Cincy defense that was around middle of the pack at stopping the run this year. Todman ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is an even bigger gamble.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams ready next week?

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 15:31:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) should be ready to play next week against the Denver Broncos if the Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald Touissant ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is preparing to start this week against the Bengals as Williams has missed practice the last two days. If Touissant does start this week, he's not a bad option at his relatively low price, even if he's your FantasyScore flex.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams missing again

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 14:19:38 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) was missing from practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) seems unlikely to play in the wild-card matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday night, and he was in a walking boot this week. He's too much of a risk at FantasyScore. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) and Jordan Todman ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) would split carries if Williams is out, with Toussaint likely to receive more work. Neither back is worth an addition to your daily lineup against the Bengals, though.

Steelers | Fitzgerald Toussaint prepared to start

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 09:38:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Fitzgerald Toussaint is preparing as if he'll start in the wild-card game this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals with RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) still in a walking boot. Toussaint had 18 carries for just 42 yards in the regular season, but his teammates have confidence that he can get the job done if Williams can't play. "I take pride in my work ethic," said Toussaint. "I go out there every day and put it all on the line. I will be ready if my number is called. I hope DeAngelo is good, but I have to be ready to take on that task."

Fantasy Tip: Williams is unlikely to play at this point, so Toussaint ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) should see the most of Pittsburgh's backfield work alongside Jordan Todman ($3,000, 6.0% of cap). The Bengals defense is too solid to let a runner with such little experience as Toussaint take advantage of them. Toussaint is a low-end FantasyScore option this weekend.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams still in a boot

Wed, 06 Jan 2016 07:56:42 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) remains in a walking boot Wednesday, Jan. 6, and is out of practice.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) doesn't look good to face the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend. Fitzgerald Toussaint ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) would be a low-end option on FantasyScore if Williams is out.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams in boot

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 10:40:26 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) is in a walking boot and remains day-to-day, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Williams' injury could have kept him out for several weeks during the regular season, but it's an injury he'll try to play through during the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: It seems unlikely that Williams will be able to play against the Cincinnati Bengals, and even if he does you wouldn't want to take the risk in daily formats. Some combination of Fitzgerald Toussaint ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), Jordan Todman ($2,000) and Will Johnson ($2,000) will be used if Williams can't play, but none of that trio should be considered on FantasyScore.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams has chance to play

Mon, 04 Jan 2016 21:56:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has a chance, albeit a small one, to play in the AFC Wild Card Game Saturday, Jan. 9, against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team source said Monday, Jan. 4. The team does not intend to sign a veteran running back for the postseason.

Fantasy Tip: If Williams ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) is unable to play, the team plans to use a combination of Fitzgerald Toussaint ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), Jordan Todman ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Will Johnson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap).

Steelers | No serious damage for DeAngelo Williams

Mon, 04 Jan 2016 16:55:50 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams' (ankle) MRI did not show any serious structural damage or any fractures in his ankle, according to sources. Williams is considered day-to-day at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Williams' status during the week to see if he will be able to practice. Williams played very well during the regular season and could be a decent option on FantasyScore if he is able to play.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams out

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 11:48:35 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) has been ruled out in Week 17.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald Toussaint actually took over for Williams as opposed to Jordan Todman, but the Steelers seem to be focused on their passing attack this week. Toussaint and Todman shouldn't do much in the second half.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams questionable to return

Sun, 03 Jan 2016 11:00:27 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) was taken to the locker room with an ankle injury in Week 17. His return is questionable.

Fantasy Tip: With Williams sidelined, Jordan Todman should be the primary running back for Pittsburgh. The Steelers have been passing early and often today, though, so he may not do a whole lot when he is in.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams could go off

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 22:50:27 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, a team which ranks dead-last in the NFL in rushing defense. The Browns have been gouged for 135.0 yards per game on the ground with 11 rushing touchdowns allowed, and 14 runs of 20 or more yards this season.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) was bottled up for just 54 rushing yards on 17 carries in the first meeting, posting just 7.9 FantasyScore points back in Week 10. However, he has five rushing touchdowns over his past three games and at least 16.6 fantasy points in each of his past five games since that outing. He has a more-than-good chance to hit the century mark in rushing yardage with at least one visit to the end zone.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams ran 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 53 yards in a 20-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Williams continues to shine as the starter, and at this point, he is one of the most reliable running backs available at FantasyScore.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams should play

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 12:48:12 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (illness) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 18, and is listed as probable for the Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should see his normal workload this week unless he suffers a setback with his illness. He has been involved in the running and passing game this season and has five rushing touchdowns in his last five games. He will be playing a tough Broncos defense and may not post the numbers owners will be expecting.

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 15:26:54 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (illness) was added to the injury report after he missed practice with an illness Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't appear that Williams' ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) illness is anything to really worry about. He'll be facing one of the best all-around defenses in the league in the Denver Broncos on Sunday, though, so paying up for him on FantasyScore isn't recommended.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams had 23 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns and two catches for 15 yards in a 33-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Williams has been solid since taking over the starting gig, and with little competition for carries, he should continue to be a safe option at FantasyScore and a potential RB1 against weaker opponents.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) practiced fully Friday, Nov. 13, and he's probable for Week 10.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams practices Thursday

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:45:49 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) appears to be on track to play against the Cleveland Browns this week and should receive a lot of touches if Landry Jones receives the start. The Browns have struggled against the run this season, which makes Williams an attractive option.

Steelers | Three Steelers sit out of practice

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 16:21:33 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (non-injury), QB Ben Roethlisberger (foot) and RB DeAngelo Williams (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Big Ben ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) isn't ruling out playing but is a long shot. Avoid him. Miller's ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) fantasy value rides on whether Roethlisberger plays, so he also becomes unattractive. Williams ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is a risk/reward play at a high FantasyScore salary. He could be limited if his foot bothers him, but the Cleveland Browns present a juicy fantasy matchup, as they're allowing the fourth-most PPR points to running backs per week.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams to have big week?

Tue, 10 Nov 2015 22:59:12 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams should be in line for another big game in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns, a team which ranks last in the NFL allowing 147.6 rushing yards per game. They have also given up nine rushing touchdowns and 11 runs of 20 or more yards, tied for most in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) will be relied upon heavily, especially if Ben Roethlisberger misses the game as expected. The run game will be instrumental in Pittsburgh's success if Landry Jones is under center in this game, so use Williams and enjoy the success.

Fantasy Tip: Former fantasy owners of the injured Le'Veon Bell can could their blessings if they were able to land Williams as a handcuff. The 32-year-old veteran is owned in virtually every fantasy league on Earth and is a must-start in all formats.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams confirmed the go-to

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 09:23:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will be the featured back, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) starred while Le'Veon Bell was suspended earlier this year, but let's pump the brakes just a tad. The Oakland Raiders are a midrange matchup, but his FantasyScore price tag is a little steep for someone that hasn't carried the load in a few weeks. There is quite a bit of risk this week.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams set to start?

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:13:30 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams could be in line to start if results of an MRI for RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) confirm that he will miss the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns in two games as the starter while Bell was suspended to start the year, so he has shown what he can do when given a heavy workload. He is a must-add player in seasonal leagues if available.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams solid in relief

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 18:11:05 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams had nine carries for 71 yards and four catches for 39 yards in a 16-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) took over as the main back after Le'Veon Bell left with a knee injury, and assuming Bell misses some time, Williams should make a great value play at FantasyScore as the starter.
